The talk of College Football right now is the report that dropped on Wednesday that Texas and Oklahoma are looking to leave the Big 12 to join the SEC.

On Thursday, the SEC Network put up a graphic showing what the potential alignment could look like if the two teams joined the conference.

The SEC, which would be turning into a super conference, would consist of 4 pods/divisions. LSU would be in a pod with Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M, according to the graphic.

Pod A: Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina
Pod B: Alabama, Auburn, Tennesee, Vanderbilt
Pod C: LSU, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Texas A&M
Pod D: Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma

Hate it. Keep Texas, Oklahoma and everyone else out of the SEC. Missouri and A&M were bad enough.

My preference also.

No matter what, I know Bama will get Vandy every year.

It seems like the alignments that are shown have two strong teams and two lesser teams in each pod. That seemed to be the determining factor in producing the pods, rather than geographic proximity.

Texas will frick things up. They frick up everything they touch. They're fans are soft, bandwagony and Davis-Wade is louder than DKR with half the fans. Will Texas ask Sanky to make it a penalty to throw horns down?

Or hear me out...you just move Alabama and Auburn to the east, Mizzou, Texas, and OU go to the west and call it a day. Split the conference right down the Miss/Bama border.
user avatar
LSUbest34 months
That's what they should do. Mizzou should have been put in the west and Auburn bumped to the east already.

The one thing they get right is host every team every four seasons. This way you play every team at least every other year. As it is now, we may not play someone for 6 years.

Good lord lsu would dominate its pod.

Wouldn't be a shocker to me if Auburn went to FL/GA/SC and they gave Gump TN/Vandy/KY.

I was thinking the same thing. Watch it happen!

I think they're doing it the way it's shown, to balance out the pods. Two strong teams and two weaker teams in each pod. You'll never get Auburn, Florida and Georgia all in the same group, even though geographically it makes lots of sense.

Booooooo 8 team West 8 team East Play all teams in your division (7 games) Play 2 teams in other division (rotates - NO PERMANENT OPPONENTS) 3 non-conference games

Swap atm for either ark or Missouri. Put atm and the short horns together.

I like our chances.

Alabama would play Kentucky, South Carolina, Ole Miss, Miss State, Arkansas, Missouri from the other pods

SEC is going to need its own playoff at this rate.

C'mon. Arkansas should be in our pod. A&M and Texas are 85 miles apart and have great history. Texas needs to be slapped in the face real hard---just on general principles.

Really the alignment as presented is somewhat amiss. Here's a more realistic alignment: 1) Texas, A&M, Oklahoma, Arkansas; 2) Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vandy; 3) LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, Alabama; 4) Auburn, Georgia, Florida, S. Carolina.

You can’t split up Auburn and Alabama, though.

U also cant have a Vandy, Missou, UK & Tenn Pod just like u cant have a UGA, Fla, Auburn & USCe Pod. I mean come on the 1st one suxs historically (except Tenn) & currently & the 2nd is loaded up w/2 many top programs

Replace Arkansas with A&M and it’s good Put all the big 12 schools back together
user avatar
Farmtiger34 months
You do realize that Arkansas was SWC (old Big XII) before they moved into the SEC and aTm is more of a true rivalry than Ark right?
user avatar
ctiger6934 months
Switch Arkansas and Texas A&M then it looks ok.
user avatar
Nix to Twillie34 months
Nah. If A&M becomes our new Bama, so be it. It’s a natural rivalry. But I do agree it would make more sense to have them in a pod with Texas.

The pod idea sux. Stay east and west but fix the split for geography.

Right? They'd die having to play in a pod with powerhouses like Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Aggy every year.

F this whole idea. No.

"Poor Vandy" That's a whole different subject that will come to pass pretty soon too. They need to be in a Conference with: Rice, TCU, SMU, Northwestern, Tulane, and maybe Stanford, Duke, and Notre Dame, and a few others.
