LSU Snaps 14-Game Losing Streak With 84-77 Win Over Vanderbilt

The LSU Tigers put an end to their 13-game losing streak tonight as they defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores, 84-77, at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

LSU’s KJ Williams led the Tigers with an season-high 35 points and nine rebounds. Adam Miller also contributed 14 points and three assists.

Vanderbilt’s Liam Robbins had quite a game for himself as he led the Commodores with 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks.

The Tigers will return to action this Saturday, February 25th at 7:30 p.m. CT, as they will travel to Oxford to face the Ole Miss Rebels. The contest will be televised on the SEC Network.

Glad they won. Much needed. The only thing that concerns me going forward is that it took a career high 35 pts from KJ to win. While we played better, we still need some more consistency on offensive scoring and must play better 3 pt defense.

Congrats Tigers on breaking the streak.
Obviously KJ had a huge game, but most everyone contributed in a substantial way. Ace penetrating was big, Juice had some key makes, the freshmen Reed, Philips, Ward, all made some impact. Hannibal coming off the bench bringing energy, like always. Great TEAM win. Geaux Tigers!

How awful Vanderbilt has to be to lose to this team lololololol

Vanderbilt is a decent team. They had won their last 5 SEC games, including wins against a decent Florida, Auburn and very good Tennessee team. The way the refs called this game, they made it hard for LSU, but LSU found a way to win. LSU has been playing better for the last few games. They've been steadily improving, so it's more of an indication that LSU can beat average teams, than an indication that Vanderbilt is terrible. It's a shame that it has taken so long, but I hope this continues. Missouri and Florida are comparable to Vanderbilt, so those are winnable, and Ole Miss is our cellar mate, so LSU has a reasonably good chance to win out the regular season games.

Castleton for Florida is out for the year so that will help alot.

Missouri may be a little stronger than Vandy. They're 20-8 overall (8-7 in the SEC). They have two key non-conference wins over Illinois and Iowa State. They also beat LSU at home 87-77.

Their game in the PMAC on March 1st should be a lot of fun, if the Tigers are truly back like they showed v Vandy. That could be a real momentum builder for LSU going into the SEC tourney.

I know Hill catches a lot of flack as he has struggled, but he was a big part of the win with his D and a big put back late.

This game was a sight for sore eyes! Bring on March Madness! We're ready!

Fwiw. After the game the team made a point to go over to the few students that attended and interact with them.

The team then walked around the court making a point of interacting with the fans that came and were sitting on the court and waving at those of us in the stands.

Miller specifically showed his appreciation imo….
Was a nice night and fun.
