Basically a Gortat screen is more concerned about sealing off the roll man’s defender than setting a hard screen on the guard.

Gortat would flip around and use his body to seal off the big man, and that’s exactly what I saw Ruzic do. Not every time, but enough times to where it was definitely intentional.

Here’s a direct definition: “A Gortat screen is an offensive basketball play where the rolling screener turns to block or seal their own drop-covering defender, opening a clear path to the basket for the ball handler”

Only complaint or question I have right now about Ruzic is his screens. Will Wade praised him afterward but during the game I noticed his screens a lot of the time seemed kind of weak. He was in the right position but almost looked like he was scared to touch the guy. Or hesitant at least.
