New data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) shows that as of April 2026, there are 5.3 million fewer people receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits compared to September 2025, the end of the federal government’s fiscal year 25. The decline in SNAP enrollments comes after new work requirements were implemented on Feb. 1.
Data from the USDA shows at the end of fiscal year 25, there were 42,382,439 people receiving SNAP benefits at a cost of $95,782,095,890. The latest USDA data shows that as of April 2026, there were 37,011,096 enrollees, a decline of 5,371,343. So far in fiscal year 26, the SNAP program has cost $51,412,312,488.
Alaska was the only state to not have a decline in SNAP enrollments. According to the USDA data report, from April 2025 to April 2026, Alaska's SNAP enrollments increased 8.2%. Arizona saw the largest decrease with over 400,000 people losing their benefits, a 54.8% decline. Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana had an over 20% decline in SNAP enrollments.

Next move = raw meat, raw veggies, raw fruits, flower, beans, rice, eggs are the only food allowed to be purchased.

That is basically pre-covid numbers i think.
Need to get it to pre-obama numbers. So another 12 million need to be cut.

We'll still run record deficits. So not really that big of a win

Yes sir.
Watching someone try to buy slushies and snacks via SNAP while trying to lace up my coffee and head to work in the monring is about as frustrating as it comes.

Is it just the work requirements or is it also do to immigrations status and deportations (self and forced)

And they can go back to commodity cheese, potted meat, nondescript peanut butter, dried beans, a log brick of lard and butter. The basic sustenance staple foods.

At least you are consistent. I’ll give you credit for that.

This is a start, a move in the right direction to get people off the government teet.

That would be a big improvement but would be shot down in seconds by some leftist judge.

Good start but we can do better.

Until we get serious about cutting defense spending we aren't really making any real progress.

I’ll take some of that.

Fabulous.
As soon as they're too heavy for workers to support the whole system crashes.
Now for Congress.

We can agree on that. Sending $150B to Ukraine was not a good idea.

So average snap benefits @$500 per family at 5,000,000 people is a savings of 2,500,000,000. And powerdufus says that’s not much.
