"Pre-order this game before you've seen any gameplay."
Nah I'm good.
Nah I'm good.

Still won't reveal the pricing, huh? Sus.

Really?
Some of you dorks are so pretentious.
You know damn well you’re gonna get the game

It's a GTA game, it's safe to assume what we're gonna get.
I'll get it of course but I'm convinced it's gonna be very underwhelming. The GTA template just doesn't do it for me anymore.
I think San Andreas is the last one I legitimately had fun playing.

You're in the minority

Not sure what you are getting at. You'll know the price in 7 days, if not sooner.

There are a couple potential issues at this point, not knowing really any detail s about the story or gameplay.
The founders left Rockstar during this game's development. That doesn't necessarily bode well.
Secondly, the emphasis on immersion and realism works for a game like RDR2 where you can get immersed in the time period. When I play GTA, I don't really want to have to stop by fast food to eat or to get gas for my car.

I think everyone is curious to see if they try to push the price for a "standard edition" to $80+ (and if so, who knows how they'll price the other editions).

I mean I get that. I’m not sure how it’s “sus” though.

It was just a (bad) joke because people have been clamoring to know the pricing and Rockstar still didn't reveal it in the latest announcement.

The biggest problem to me with the GTA formula is how insanely structured the missions are.
They create an open world sandbox where you have a ton of freedom and then you start up a mission and it's completely rigid and on rails. You are required to follow a strict set of steps and directions of where to go and what to do and if you deviate even a little it's mission failed.
Doesn't even feel like I'm playing the game, just following a checklist of detailed instructions.
I would prefer missions that had a lot more freedom like they give you some objective and it's totally up to you to make the objective happen.
But that really doesn't work because they want to force you to tag along with NPCs who need to chatter in your ear.

My bad, I guess I took it too seriously. I tend to think it’ll be $70-80 for the base game. I can’t imagine them going above $80, but we’ll find out soon enough

No, I don't know that at all. At this point, I've seen nothing about this game that would lead me to buy it. "Oh great, they made a pretty looking Miami!" That's not enough.

I don't think this is safe to assume at all. Rockstar's very public comments about "not punching down" and the removal of trannies from GTA V has me leaning in the other direction. They've shown nothing that would lead me to believe they have returned to narrative choices that helped make GTA games awesome in the first place (making fun of everyone).

this is the first release where I am playing primarily on PC.
Not particularly enthusiastic about buying this for lesser hardware only for them to turn around and go for the double dip with a "next gen version" and a PC release 2-3 years later.
May just try to hold out. Only have a base PS5 and a series X and I'm sure that this will be optimized for PS5 pro.
On the game itself, I will be interested to see how the marketing ramps up just prior to release, the pricing structure for the game, and the monetization of GTA online's next iteration. I want to say that no dev can live up to the hype that this game is generating, but rockstar's brand still commands respect. They haven't delivered a dud yet. This will either send them into the stratosphere or it will seriously deflate their standing in the industry.

Then don't buy it until you see some gameplay... Not sure what the problem is.

Rockstar is being just a tad pretentious themselves.
"heres the cover. you can preorder on 6/25."
Just release a new trailer. They are so high on themselves that they can just release a goddamn jpeg and sniff their own farts. I think that level of arrogance can be off putting for some people.

Not releasing any gameplay before the pre-order date is a huge red flag and tells me everything I need to know about Rockstar as a company now. With the way this game has been marketed, this has the writings of cyberpunk 2077 all over again.
AAA games won’t even be a thing in the next 10-15 years. The hardcore GTA fans better enjoy this one.
