The IBEW is as bad as most union outfits.

They will support anything that benefits themselves or price fixes wage rates and excludes merit shops.

It's no wonder most of these union folks vote Dem, they don't understand working in a free market economy.

If I worked for a union this is 100% what I would want them to do.

Unions blow. Initial intent of them was great but now…terrible. Some of the worse hands out there. All they do is slow wobble projects with shitty craftsmanship and intimidate owners and regions into using them. They do create a lot of rework for the good contractors to get brought in to fix and then finish when the unions get tossed off jobs!

Data Centers DO rob working class folks of their jobs, long term, dumbass.

Of course the electricians union wants these projects to go forward. It creates obvious employment opportunities for their membership in the short term. And of course, lesser opportunities long term with maintenance and repair.

That doesn't offset the job loss by increased AI capability.

I say this as a plumber and someone who has been in two unions.

AI is trash.

Doesn't sound like trash if it can replace actual people.

Are you still outraged over the invention of steel tire rims destroying the spoke industry?

You can't see the forest for the trees and I'm not going to waste time after this post arguing with you about the societal ramifications this will have. Acting as if the potential for new job creation v the obvious job loss with this is equivalent to what downstream impacts those past inventions had on society since the advent of the Industrial Revolution is complete horseshite and utter nonsense.

Not even close to the same thing.

You're talking about a tangible product versus the idea of what could be based on an imperfect formula.

I have no idea what AI can be, but in its state right now, it's trash. It can't even handle graphic generation without defaulting to the lowest common denominator. It's not a good product. It actually is not even close, but they keep spreading BS about it because our entire economy is basically propped up on this.

This is layman use of AI. Not how businesses use it

lol! There it is!

That’s what people say when they don’t know how to backup an idiotic claim they make on a topic they know NOTHING about.

Thank God people like you aren’t the ones making important decisions and doing what’s best for mankind as a whole.

We are literally witnessing the most significant creation in all of mankind…AI

Are all you can think about is losing traditional jobs but that’s because YOU don’t understand what is about to unfold.

You validated your initial statement of not having any idea what AI can be.

Graphic generation rendering memes and images is the most simplistic thing it can do for the common folk to get their attention and buy in.

With regards to quality… which AI do you use?

We have an internal proprietary tool as well as a version of copilot at my national audit and assurance practice.

It's fricking trash. It's constantly incorrect. For personal use I pay for ChatGPT. I use it all the time.

I'm not against AI. I use it way more than 99% of people who are regular users. I BADLY want it to be good.

Right now, it's trash. It just is. If you can't see that it's incredibly flawed, it's because you don't actually know what you're evaluating.

I'm dumbing it down to what most people on here use it for because most of yall are, and I'm not trying to be mean (I know I am being mean, I'm saying that I'm trying to speak honestly), genuinely fricking retarded.

Exactly. I’m glad data centers want to pay out the arse to get people to build them. Not all data centers are built with IBEW hands. Why do hate on workers getting paid livable wages for their skill?

This is how you win people over to your side. Call them names. Ad hominem attacks aside, your logic is flawed. You argued that AI is trash in its current stage of development and attack data centers being built.

Data centers provide the energy and power for AI to continue to grow and strengthen. Look at what the internet was in 1994 and look at it now.

In my experience, the people who make the most claims of their peers being retarded, are in fact, themselves the most retarded in the room.

I in no way attacked data centers.

I'm currently evaluating my position on data center. I'm truly undecided.

AI right now is trash compared to what people tout. That's just a fact.

Go look and see how much the IBEW members are making at the data centers. There’s thousands of open calls all across the country. Anyone who read that tweet and doesn’t understand it do some research. Data centers are paying over scale, all overtime double time, pier diem to get them up and running. So yes… it’s an opportunity for the IBEW membership to make a lot of money right now.
