I mean, 2.76 seconds is an amazing accomplishment of dexterity, but is 3x3 really a challenge, even for a 10 year old? And 2x2? Gtfo with that.

My nephew held LA state record (3X3) and is nationally highly ranked.
Meanwhile, his uncle (me) could solve his in 1980s by using a book that showed how but took me all of 1980s to do so.

Took me about 20 minutes to solve one back in the day. Hardest part was reheating the stickers with a blow dryer so they'd stick again.

Learning how to solve one was a random thing I picked up during Covid lockdown. At my best I could do it in a about a minute twenty seconds. The speed that these speed cubers go is crazy

I wonder what the standard is for the starting point?
If you watch the video the one side is like 2/3 solved.
I'm not diminishing the record but just curious how the start point is established.

Yea but I've never been good at it. Honestly, have always just been too retarded to get it. Even my sons at a young age were good and I always felt "special" in front of them because I'm so bad at it.

My kids love these but can't solve them 
They usually think dad can do anything and I don't know how to solve them either, so I just don't attempt and claim I could do it if I want. They call my bullshite so hard

Still have an original from when it came out. I would compete against my brother's and thought I was good but sub 3 seconds is nuts.

They use computers to generate scrambles to make sure it's truly "random." Regardless, these guys know the algorithms and it becomes a test of dexterity and ability to visualize the solve during the inspection phase that they're allowed. I can solve one in about 60 seconds but it's using a slower set of algorithms than these guys use. I never bothered learning how to go much faster than that

Same here, during the pandemic I had plenty of down time working remotely.
I learned the basic beginner method that solves it layer by layer but it still takes me just under 4 minutes to solve it lmao

Rookie, Just break apart the plastic cubes, and put them back in the correct order then you don't have to worry about the stickers.
