Louisville isn’t bad. It has its bad parts of town like anywhere else. I go to the Louder Than Life Festival every September at the fairgrounds and it’s a fun time. We’re a very pro gun state and people carry everywhere they legally can.

Had a great time in Tulsa. Tons of good restaurants (Juniper, Bull in the Alley), cocktail bars (Valkyrie) and craft brewers (Fassler Hall, Neff) All within reasonable walking distance of the hotel (Tulsa Club).

I came on here to say Tulsa. Great food. Every steakhouse seemed to serve tabbouleh...and it was always good. I haven't been there in a long time...but liked the Riverwalk and Brookside. It is a super easy town to navigate, too.

Edit to add..."It's the Paris of Oklahoma"...

Detroit and Philadelphia

I’ve been to both within the last 3 years. Aside from some bums every now and then, these places had safe feeling downtowns. The history and architecture is awesome. You can essentially tour for yourself.

Man I've had an itch for YEARS to visit both of these places but I keep talking myself out of it. Usually whenever I start reseraching even just a little bit it's hard to wade through all the crime stats that are consttantly thrown at you. I'd have to imagine a trip to Detroit for a 3/4 day trip would probably be pretty damn cheap too right? At least compared to any other large city

I was pretty surprised with Brussels this last trip. Not one of the famous, historical European cities but I could have spent another day or 2 there

Reluctantly agreed to visiting St Louis with a friend last spring and was pleasantly surprised . City Museum, amazing botanical garden, heard some great blues and Italian food was on point

I visited Detroit in the summer for a few days and had a great time. We walked all over downtown and felt very safe. Definitely do more than one day. The Henry Ford Museum a little bit outside of Detroit is one of the best museums I’ve ever been to.

Detroit has definitely come a long way and if you make it over to Canada side, Windsor has great views of the city.

St Louis, especially if you have kids.

The City Museum is kids heaven and the Zoo is free along with the Arch and a baseball game. Get a frozen custard at Ted Drewe's.

You could do a long weekend and have a great time.

We go to Bend every summer, but I think it's basically universally accepted that Bend is the shite, hence why it has completely exploded in population.

Surprised how much I liked new Orleans, and it had nothing to do with partying on bourbon street.

Also surprised how clean and beautiful downtown Chicago was when I was there in 2016.

Cleveland is the answer to this thread. People talk about it like the worst city ever. Thought it was fantastic when I went

Kansas City proved to be a lot more fun than I expected. Will give the nod to Louisville though.

For international; we ended up doing Istanbul earlier this year. Wasn’t originally part of the plan; some flight cancellations and rescheduling had us there for 48 hours. Not sure what I expected; but, the city has great food, nightlife and a very vibrant culture. Will go back again for sure.

Hot Springs, Arkansas was much more fun than I expected. A nice downtown strip, nice horse racetrack, and nice lake for water sports all impressed me.

Greenville, SC - great food scene, nightlife and outdoors.
Columbus, OH - also great food and bar scene.
Downtown Detroit, as mentioned, is actually quite nice with historic buildings and great restaurants.

One of my favorite cities in the world.

Memphis has some great things about it that I never thought I would enjoy.

Milwaukee. Was surprised that it was as much fun as we had, but lot of breweries including PBR, tons of bars, and pretty good food. Stopped there for a night on our way from Chicago to Lambeau for a bills packers game

This loop is on my list. I think it would be a great place to go the last week of summer. We are trying to make a quick city type vacation each year prior to school .
