A quick hit 4 night on Carnival Sensation out of Mobile... Cozumel and back. Friends invited us and it was a really, really good price.
Youngest kid wants me to take them to Disney over Thanksgiving as one of her friends moved to Orlando area over the summer and they want to visit.

Thanks for the tips...I haven't travelled that part of the country much except for Yellowstone with the kids a couple of decades ago.

Maui. Leaving tomorrow morning for 2 weeks.
Haven’t been anywhere since Feb 2020 so definitely looking forward to getting away.

Petra absolutely lives up to the hype. The rest of the country is great too. I very much would like to return to Jordan.

my job is basically a traveling one .... In Bangkok now and was hoping to return to Vietnam and venture into Laos after the job, but things aren't looking so great at this juncture.

Really looking forward to getting over to Yellowstone and possibly Grand Teton.
I just spent a week there. If you need any recs dealing with Yellowstone crowds or selecting a Tetons hike, let me know.

Right now I'm just planning on getting to the West entrance no later than 7:30am and going from there. Happy to hear any tips you can share. I know that a section of the main loop road is closed, how did that affect you?

Getting there early is no doubt a must. Depending on what you want to see, you might want to get through earlier. But should be fine for Grand Canyon or Old Faithful.
I suggest bringing a cooler and lunch packed. Depending on where you are when you get hungry, long lines could really slow you down for 2+ hours by stopping for lunch. We lucked out some days.
We went for 3+ days so the closed section was a nuisance for one day coming back from Lamar valley, but wasn’t that big of a deal. I’d definitely have a plan of what you wanted to see on certain day(s). We came through W. Yellowstone as well.
Above all, stay “off” typical schedule. Arrive 30 minutes earlier than you think you need to. Eat early or late. Drive when most other people at eating lunch, etc. Easier said than done if you have kids.

Planning a trip to Copenhagen with an 18 month old
Exercise in pure insanity, but whatever. Maybe it happens, maybe not.

I know not spectacular, but in my quest to see all 50 states it’s 47th.
How long have you been on this quest? If you drive through a state does it count or is this quest about actually spending time in each state?
I have the same quest to visit every National Park. It's a lifelong thing for me and I have a long ways to go.

You can select from a list of the parks, & other federal locations, and create your personal list of the ones you have visited. And you can see them on a map. It’s very helpful.
Be sure & get the official app with the NP logo w/ the mountain, tree & white bison at the bottom.

I wanted to do that until they keep adding parks to the list faster than I can visit them.

Sounds like it'll be a wild ride. We just took our 3 month old to Miami, and it was a breeze (2 hour direct flight that she slept through both ways), but I've heard it's much harder to fly once they start walking and such.

Crossing our fingers for New Zealand this December to celebrate a college graduation. Working on a backup option in case the Kiwis keep us out.
Posted on 8/13/21 at 8:44 pm to MLU
Hope it works out for you, but I’d be absolutely shocked if NZ is opened back up to foreign travelers by then.
Posted on 8/13/21 at 9:36 pm to MLU
Yeah, I'd definitely work on that backup option.

That will be a fantastic trip. Great time of year to go. Halibut too, or salmon inshore?
More mundane plans until some of the travel cancellation risks subside, back to Perdido for our annual October trip (plan for a Panhandle hurricane in mid-October)
