Right now I'm just planning on getting to the West entrance no later than 7:30am

Try 7 or earlier, that entrance gets backed up quick.

I went through at 645 and it was a 10 min wait. It builds up quickly.

Sitka, Alaska over labor day for a solo trip. Booked salmon fishing and a birds, bears, and totem pole tour, probably some hiking as well.

You can hike harbor mountain from near downtown. The view overlooking the Sound is spectacular.

Hoping to do a cat-skiing trip out of crested butte in February/March. There is a new baby arriving any day now though that may cause us to postpone for another year.

Los Angeles in September for LSU v. UCLA football. Also Las Vegas later in September. Lexington/Cincinnati in October for LSU v. Kentucky (and maybe another nearby game on Sunday). Asheville in November -- in the mountains for a week and then at Biltmore for a few days including Thanksgiving.

This is the most I've had on the docket in a really long time.

Just got back from the Maldives. Amazing place.

Next trip is London for Christmas and Madeira for New Year’s. More than a little concerned about multiple destinations with the logistics of Covid testing requirements even though we are fully vaccinated. May have to bail on Madeira as we are flying in and out of heathrow.

We stayed at the Nautilus. Small high end resort which was simply amazing.

Staff wore masks. Guests did not.

You have to go on the Maldives government website to fill out a form. Upload passport, vaccination certificate, and negative Covid test taken in prior 96 hours before departure. It gives you a QR code to show at passport control. You can’t do this until you’re in transit because the code is only valid for 24 hours — it took us almost 30 hours to get there. We did ours in Doha where we had an 8 hour layover. We were in sterile transit in Doha so no documents needed in the airport, although Qatar Airways checked our Covid test as you need a 72 hour negative test to board when transiting through Doha.

Website says you need to download a contact tracing app. We did but no one asked me about it. I deleted when we got home.

Going home, you need a negative Covid test to board. Nautilus sent a doc to our room the day before departure and gave us the test results at check out.

The whole Covid thing was very well organized and unobtrusive everything considered.

Qatar Airways is amazing. It’s a looong flight. Worth it though. We will definitely go back.

We thought about it but it added $11k so we declined. Would have been $15k in flights including the seaplane transfer. That’s not a pill I can swallow.

Almost went with Turkish Airlines first class as it was only $4k more for business but waited too long and return trip doubled.

Going there for a few days in 2 weeks. Are you hiring a guide or doing it all on your own?
