I am not 5 years old.

I legitimately wonder what situations have people in airports multiple times a year with long downtime.

Travel to my company's home office probably 18x/yr. There's a flight to ATL at ~6 p.m. that lands ~7:30 p.m. The two flights home from ATL are at 8 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. I land about 10 minutes too late to make the 8 p.m. flight, so I have a long layover. I'm not married to Delta, but it's a similar schedule with the other airlines so I'd be dealing with a layover in CLT or ORD. Lounge access is nice for these days. If we're going to wrap up early, I can get on a 3-4 p.m. flight with a reasonable layover, but I won't know that until day of.

They're useful on international trips, even if they're direct. A lot of the IAH terminal B users likely live in backwaters like Baton Rouge, El Paso, etc., and have to schedule extra connection time.

I can def see it for people who consistently connect for international travel as you have to be conservative with connection timing

Ever heard of delayed flights and/or extended connecting flight layover times?

For the true road warrior, it’s the ability to have a place to wait out delays, more comfortable seating, and better food. Also having a dedicated and elevated staffer to handle routing options during delays is clutch.

My busiest year on Delta about 15 years ago was 125 segments.

I had Sky Club agents work miracles that even the Medallion desk wouldn’t be able to accomplish.

I am not a road warrior. I will get to the airport a little earlier than needed many times because circumstances change on timing, but sometimes I do it just to get a little to eat and have some drinks.

Sounds like Terminal B almost had a short shelf life.

Fire broke out at a restaraunt near C12 yesterday afternoon. A few hundered feet from the new B terminal, that would have been bad

For the last 8-10 years I've done 75+ segments a year... I can count on both hand the amount of times I've used a lounge, and they were all Centurion. Of those, only 3-4 solo and all but 1 were international trips.

To each his own, but I get to the airport 20-30 min before boarding begins. I spend enough time in airports, why would I want to spend more. Monitor flights on Flightaware and if there is a delay, delay getting to airport.

That’s where I’m at. Before flightaware and all the direct flights I would understand the lounge “need” more

As it is today I think it’s more of a want for some people as they like the airport vibe and choose to be there. Which is perfectly fine and understandable

To each his own... I've been in some nice Centurion lounges. SLC's new one is freaking incredible, but def not my thing to spend time at the airport if I dont't need to.

Never been in the United lounge as is at IAH and doubt I'll ever step foot in this one. Doesn't mean its not cool.

I just like going in there so I can snack and chill out before my flight in the peace and quiet.

I’ve missed a couple of flights in my day and it was absolute hell trying to get rescheduled, I will never make that same mistake again.

The united lounge offers me that peace of mind.

Saw a report that this United lounge has free tampons in the men’s restroom.
