Iceland

Iceland is an amazing trip, no ice cave in July. 5K won't cut it for two for a week though.

I like Santa Fe, but as a solo trip? I’d need to be sold on this one

Driving around norther NM, southern Idaho, CO, those mountains made me wish I could take a picture every minute. They really do make you realize how small you are.

Avoid crowds: do a history tour.
Choose colonial history culminating in Revolutionary War Battles
or
French and Indian War
or early French and Spanish settlements in North America
or go west and do
Spanish Missions (San Antonio)
Wars with Spain/Mexico

or follow the early settlers along the trails from the Mississippi/Missouri Rivers west.

Spend some of the time until them reading history to give you some background, find obscure museums that aren't open every day of the week, and over lay this with a search for regional BBQ. maybe even regional artisan beer and or wine.

Hookers ain't leaving the hookhouse if you ain't got the hookup. They need fuel.

Hit up a couple of the Utah National Parks: Arches, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Canyonlands, Zion. Yes it'll be crowded and hot, but still worth it. Everywhere will be crowded and hot around 4th of July though.

fly to Boise
Rent a vehicle and drive to Stanley
Book a week of rafting and fly fishing
Soak in the hot springs
get drunk with the locals at the rod and gun

Stanley also does a classic fire truck 4th of July parade

You could do all three of the items you listed from there and go rafting too.

We stayed on Mt Hood last summer, it was beautiful out there.

We rafted the White Salmon River also and rafted down a 12' waterfall, best rafting we've ever done.
