Too much carbon. Unless you got one of those fancy planes that runs off solar.

Truth is always somewhere in the middle... We loved Spain but the food was bland. We were surprised by the amount of graffiti in Spain, trash and graffiti in Italy (Tuscany is amazing). England was a highlight for us; culturally so close. They're polite, line up for places, funny as hell. Other places, not so much. We'll go again but in the off season.

They both sound awful.

At least with Disney you have the option of being stateside so there’s less bullshite you’d have to deal with. Hell you could even drive. Put the ball in your court

Consider Eastern Europe.

Baltic States

Warsaw is terribly underrated.

Hungary, Budapest, awesome.

Etc.

Where did you go? Neither are reflective of my time in Spain.

San Sebastian, Madrid, Toledo. San Sebastian is an amazing place.

Naples, Rome, Tuscany. Tuscany is breathtaking, Rome is an amazing historically significant city obviously. we were surprised by the trash and graffit outside the touristy center. Naples, my god. never again.

Where did you go? I thought the food in Barcelona was incredible. Preferred it over Rome.

I was just in Madrid, Pamplona and San Sebastian and the food was great. I would say Madrid had the best food followed by San Sebastian and then Pamplona.

San Sebastian

I've never been, so I can't speak to it. Though you liked it, so I guess I don't need to

Madrid

It's like DC. There are some flat out world class restaurants there, but there's also run of the mill stuff. I had some excellent meals in Madrid, but it took a little googling.

Toledo

Beautiful, but mostly a tourist town. We had an excellent meal there at a very nice restaurant, but we only stayed one night, so I could see options running thin very quickly.

Food in Barcelona, Grenada, and Seville is excellent, as a rule.

Naples, Rome, Tuscany

Haven't made it to Tuscany yet, but I've heard good things. I don't recall much trash and graffiti in Rome, but it doesn't shock me. It's a big city. If you get too far off the beaten path in Rome, Paris, New York, etc, things start to get grimy. Great city, though, and it has an underappreciated museum with my favorite sculpture in the world.

And Naples...

No one should so much as spend a night in Naples. Go to Pompeii, go to the Naples museum just long enough to see the "secret" Pompeii exhibit, grab a pizza nearby, and then get the frick out of that god forsaken city

The euro is not at great value considering one year ago it was almost exactly 1.00 and now its 1.10… so i dont understand this concept

Being glad I did it then and not now has nothing to do with the monetary exchange rate. I have zero confidence that my country will be there for me if something were to happen to me or my family while there.

I've been to Europe probably 10 times in the last 23 years and the best exchange rate I've had while over there prior to this year was $1.35 to 1 euro. I've had it as high as $1.80 to 1 euro. So while last year may have been better, this year the exchange rate is still damn good.

Was in Spain last summer..
I noticed Madrid was waaay cheaper than Barcelona.
But both had great food.

Definitely didn't like the food in Toledo. But that city and the landscape is a must see.

Exchange rate aside, the food/drink just wasn’t that expensive. Went to Sicily, Amalfi, Taormina, Malta, Spain, France. Unlike good restaurants in the US. Now, airfare is completely ridiculous.

Most I ever paid was right at $1.60 or so about 15 years ago. That shite hurt.

When I went to the states 12 years ago I got $2:£1 so €1.80 would seem reachable, although at that point it was £1:€1.30

frick holidays have got expensive here
