Reading through one of the Disney threads and posts about crowds being more difficult to deal with than in the past.

Would you be willing to pay more for entrance to the park if they limited the number of people in the park each day? For all I know, they may already do this to an extent, and if they do, what if they limited even more?

They are working towards that with date specific tickets starting on the 16th. It gives them the ability to a) charge more for peak days and b) gauge crowds for each day.

100%

They should hammer the people on ticket prices and parking if they are not staying on property.

I mean they do this already? I’m sure Disney analyzes their data plenty to maximize profits.

Look at things like Halloween nights or whatever it’s called where they charge I think $79 just for 4 pm to midnight admission. That’s basically what the OP is talking about.

How much are we taking about reducing it by? Because the problem is Disney gives discounts for extended stays AND they make a lot of money off you on food and souvenirs in the park.

So they’d probably have to do something like double or triple ticket prices to make the same amount of profit with 60-75% of the crowd size.

Haven't been there in 15 years but I'd say yes. With the exponential growth of the population the crowds will only get worse and the parks aren't getting any bigger.

They need another park, the problem is the cold when they try to find a location further north...

They do close parks if it gets too crowded.
Especially Magic Kingdom since it is not as spread out as the other parks.
They are not going to turn away money though. It will still be as crowded as they can have it because the bottom line is the end all be all.

I would rather see WDW go back to normal staffing year round. A few years ago they cut staffing back during non holiday and non summer months to cut costs. This has made non peak times feel more like peak times and due to lower staffing a lot of rides will only run one coaster or track on a ride.

They already do this, you can rent Disney. They do corporate events and such.

If you haven't managed to go to a theme park for something like this, you are really missing out. The awesome ones do free food for everyone too. The one I went to limited where you could go in the Magic Kingdom and it was after it closed for the day to the general public. One of the early close nights. They do the same thing for weddings too.

The Orlando Newspaper will occassionally rent out Universal and you can pay to go to that event. It's usuaully limited to a certain area of the park like Harry Potter.

It’s about to go the other way. After this month pricing will be based on which days you go. Slow days will be the lowest and probably current price. Busier days will be a higher price. This is to potentially spread the crowds out a bit.

My company had our annual convention in Orlando two years ago and the last night they rented out Epcot. They kicked everyone out at 5pm and it was just us(around 1,000 people) from 5pm-midnight.

Everything was open too. Eat and drink whatever you want and ride whatever you want.

A. I dont even want to know how much that cost
B. Id be PISSED if i was someone forced to exit the park at 5pm

I've been there when some group had one of the parks rented out one night. They let you know well ahead of time so you can plan accordingly. It would suck if you walked up that day and bought a ticket though.

When I was there, it was MK that had something going on, and they cleared the park at 6. Luckily it was our last day and knew we'd be tired so that's where we went knowing we'd be back to the hotel room pretty early to pack. Park was pretty empty that day, which worked out well as well.

They absolutely have. They have increased prices with the intent of reducing demand/capacity. That means they spend less money on labor, ride repairs, etc. This is the main reaosn why people are seeing wait times in the winter now similar to what you used to see in the summer 3 and 4 years ago.....there are far less people there, but the attractions have longer waits.

It also gives them the ability to price the shite out of tickets when Galaxy's Edge opens. The next ticket increase will come next October (just a couple of months before the opening of Galaxy's edge) and their tiered pricing will be in place. Its going to be nuts to see those prices....I rally think we will see a $200 single day ticket.

I just bought another AP that I won't use until january 2019 so it will be good till January 2020....the main reason I did this was to experience Galaxy's Edge as soon as it opens without needing to pay the insane price increase that it's gonna bring.

I lucked into (what I later found out to be) a low volume day at Disneyland this past January. It was the last Sunday of the month, FWIW.

It was absolutely wonderful.

I would pay more at any venue I go to if the bad actors from a certain huge Communist country in Asia were not allowed to go there that day.
