Has anyone ever used this rental service? It is almost half the price of hertz and enterprise. Any pitfalls? Picking up and dropping off at the Charleston airport if that matters.

I've used them many times with no issues.

Depending on where I travel, it is usually between Enterprise or Budget as to who I use.

Hertz used to be my first choice but I have found they are usually much higher than anyone else.

Budget Car Rental
I've used them often, no problems. They are a subsidiary of Avis and you probably will use the Avis counter. On my last trip I rented from Dollar, a subsidiary of Hertz. It was handled at the Hertz counter and Hertz replaced the car when the battery died. I've also used Thrifty often, they are now a subsidiary of Hertz. I have no qualms about using the "cheap" brand of the big name renters. It's all the same (mediocre) to be honest.

Budget's fine. AVIS, Enterprise, etc. are all about the same. At some airports, such as Charleston, they even share the same desks. It's when you go the bargain bin type places that shuttle you to a sketchy lot offsite is when things can get questionable on if save a couple of bucks is worth it. I just booked a rental car in Charleston too, and the quotes from Budget looked ok, but I paid upfront through another chain and save a few bucks instead of the pay later option that Budget had.

Have used Budget with Aafes discount. OK.

Enterprise my favorite, sometimes price competitive with Budget depending when you book.

The Enterprise family; Enterprise, National, and Alamo is a clear step above the rest and worth a few extra dollars each day in rental costs.

Better service, more frequent upgrades, never missing cars when you have a reservation, and they regularly let you choose your car.

Talk to the folks at JFK this morning with all the flight delays. People were camping out at Avis-Budget waiting for cars to be returned. I’ll only use Avis if I book through Costco and if Enterprise family is way too expensive. I’ll never use the fraudster with Hertz family.

I only use National. Never had one bad experience with them, ever. I love being able to skip any counter and pick any car on the line.

First time I was told by 2 different people at the counter that I would receive my security deposit back on a one way trip from Charlotte to Atlanta only to find out I wouldn’t… so paid $300 for that trip. Then second time(family trip) I was told when I rented the car anyone could turn it back in only to find out when my dad turned it in I was charged more. 3rd time I called about turning the car in first thing in the morning after vs the night I had originally booked and was told as long as I was there before 8 there would be no charge. Showed up at 7:30 and got charged for an extra day

I've used a similar budget rental service before. The savings were great, but just keep an eye out for hidden fees or extra charges, they can add up.

For half price it would be tempting but I’m always willing to pay more to avoid a Disney park line at the cheap car rental places. After being stuck in 40+ ppl lines (slow lines too ) at mco and Dfw I’m done with anything not named alamo or national. I’ve had some good experiences with them too but the bad ones I had were REALLY bad.

We waited over an hour for our reserved rental car from Budget in Atlanta airport. Finally I took the only car they had available!

Have used Turo from:

--Denver
--Chicago
--Albuquerque
--New York City
--Hawaii.

Every time was fine, always cheaper, and in some cases (Denver) MUCH cheaper than a rental car. You also get to actually see/pick the exact car you want, not just a category like "mid-size sedan" or "standard SUV".

Always go with a five-star, all star (or whatever) host.

A couple of years ago in Portland Maine I had an unbelievable experience with Budget. My flight along
with every other flight was delayed due to a fire or someway the airport. We arrived around 1 AM and I went straight to the Budget counter and got in a line of about 50 people. As I got close I can hear them tell everyone that they are out of cars. My turn so I give my last name. They said ‘Welcome, we have your car waiting.’ I walked out and it was the only car in the lot.

Does anyone have experience with Fox car rental? I've never even heard of them but I'm looking to book a rental car for a trip next month and they seem to be one of the main companies that show up on a search at my location.
