I don't get it.

I know I'm not cool because i'm a poors and stay a few devices behind but I literally paid maybe $130 for my Pixel XL and its fricking sweet. Its extremely fast and software is in sync with the lastest and greatest being released for the Pixel3.

Whatever hardware features I'm missing I guess I won't know. All I know is my fingerprint unlocks the phone and its the best damn camera I've ever seen.

In a couple years I'll move to a pixel2 or maybe even a samsung but you can bet your sweet arse I won't pay more than a couple hundred for whatever I get.

There are just too many cutting edge phones on the market that don't cost anywhere near $1,000 if you stay a model behind.

Paying $1,000 every year for new phone hardware seems like stupid-tax to me.

Dont bitch. If we didn't buy new phones, you wouldn't be able to get your cheap pre-owned phones.

$500 a year or less if you sell it yourself.

Think how much money people spend on boats/campers/other shite they enjoy every year. People get far more use out of phones. Some people just enjoy gadgets a lot.

Some people just accept having a note. Same with cars. Just the way it is. I Just bought a Note 9 coming from a iPhone 6. It's so weird having a phone so much damn faster.

This. That’s less than $2/day for a device that gets a shite ton of usage. It’s really not that crazy in the grand scheme of things.

I have an original pixel also.

The charging function is getting pretty finecky. Sometimes I have to plug it in a few times before it registers.

When it finally craps out I will get a used pixel 2 for $200-$300.

No way I'm gonna pay $1000 for a new phone

I pay for a flagship phone every 3 1/2, 4 years or so. Less than a dollar a day.

For me it's just a phone. I had an iPhone 5 for 4.5 years and then replaced with an SE. I couldn't be happier.

This is what makes the XR so brilliant. Apple was able to change the price point for the whole industry and now people think the $749 IPhone XR is a discount when it’s actually a $100 increase from what used to be a $649 starting price for new iPhones.

It's not really 1k. Most are paying 30-45/month and just give their current phone back and get a new one. I actually resisted the urge to upgrade from the X to the newer ones so I'm hoping to get some real trade in next year.

He's the king of dumpster-diving for electronics. Then he complains that people buy the same shite he buys from the junk pile years later.

I did the same thing about 6 weeks ago. New SE from my cell phone provider was $149.
