Hello all.

Over the course of the last few years, we have added a bunch of streaming channels, along with our DirectTV streaming subscription. All of it runs through those little rook devices in the back of the television.

At first I did not mind, but the rates keep increasing and I would prefer to spend those dollars elsewhere. I just received an email that Disney and Hulu are raising their rates as well.

So, what I wanted to ask is, would I be able to watch the majority of SEC football games if I got the ESPN + Hulu + Disney bundle? If I could still watch the live games, I think I would cancel all the rest of the crap we currently have.

Is there another single or bundled streaming service some would recommend instead? I know some use YouTube TV but will that let me access most SEC games?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

As an old man myself ... we went with YouTubeTV and added Max, Netflix, Amazon Prime, BritBox, Paramount+ and AMC+ (mostly for the wife, kids and grandkids).

All I really care about is Fox Business, Turner Movies Channel, ballgames and lately Justified: City Primeval on FX Now.

Thanks to everyone for their responses!

So it sounds like YouTube sub would definitely get me most of the sports.

We probably spend more on streaming services than we did on cable.

We have:
-YouTube TV
-Prime
-Netflix
-Hulu
-ESPN+
-Disney
-Paramount
-Discovery Plus
-Max
-Sundance (mainly because we can't remember who signed up or what the password is to cancel it or watch it)

Directv Stream has been great for us.

Sounds silly but I had to change from youtubetv because it did not include the Tennis Channel. So if you have a particular channel that you want, make sure whichever you choose has it included.

YouTube TV can give you all the local channels plus all the sports channels. It also has digital recording so you can record and watch later. It would give you everything except for games only streamed on the ESPN app and not over the air.

Honestly if you have the direct tv that should basically work as your cable subscription.

None of the other shite would be needed.

Unless you want specific shows like marvel or star wars on Disney, or the Netflix only shows.

YoutubeTV
Amazon Video/Prime
Netflix
Disney Bundle (Disney+/Hulu/ESPN+) thru Verizon Unlimited Plan - not sure they still offer this free perk

Wanted to watch my kid play so was pleasantly surprised that ESPN+ includes SECN+ and access to essentially all games in all sports

Thanks.

I was probably not clear about that, I am planning on cancelling the Direct TV streaming service. I liked it but since we RV often and for long periods of time (I mentioned I am old, right), the Direct TV stream does not work when we travel.

I think I already pay a good bit more for the streaming/bundling than I ever did with just plain cable. I want the wife to have access to her shows, but these days I am really only interested in sports and old reruns --- so I just have a ton of extra features that are not worth the money to me.

Sports is your problem - others will have to help you with that.

Otherwise most of your needs can be met for free:

1. YT basic

2. Pluto TV

3. Tubi
