I'm considering these three brands. I like my Roku and would most like it to function similarly to that. Samsung and LG seem to have some proprietary "smart hub." I had this years ago with a Samsung and it was useless, but granted tv's have advanced quite a bit.
Any experiences between brands? Basically I don't want to buy a tv that I then have to end up plugging a Roku into. TIA

I have a Sony and it had Android TV as the smart interface. It works very well.

Smart features aside, my Samsung tv made it a year and a half before two thin permanent red lines appeared on the screen. Replaced it with a 75 inch Vizio that sometimes turns off by itself and it can take awhile to get it back on. Not very happy with either brand.

Both had/have plenty of free channels, if that's what you're looking for.

Same. I was a dedicated roku user for years, but I might actually prefer android/Google tv or whatever it's called

Get a TLC Roku TV if it is not your primary TV. I just got 65” for about $220. Works just like my other TVs with a Roku stick.

We have one of the high end LG OLED smart TV’s, the smart functions work great, only app you can’t get on it is ESPN. So I keep our ROKU hooked up to it for that.

Just get a Roku. They are good at making easy to use UIs that are snappy and stay up to date.

Take into account that every "supported device" will be deprecated (no longer supported.) The same TV (but different branded model) from LG will have nine models for the same three TVs across BB, Wally, etc., and half of those models won't get an update required to access Service X in 18 months.

TV apps have been dog shite for over a decade. Does LG support? Samsung still updating? What about Hisense?

F that. Buy a $30 device and replace it every four years (Roku, FireStick, etc.)

Get a cheaper tv with the low end smart features and buy a google tv box to run apps. It will be much cheaper and work better.

You buy a Vizio for picture quality and price. You dont buy one for smart featuers.

I can't speak to best, but my experience with LG has been positive. Had it for four years and it works great, and all the apps are updated regularly and work just fine.

Why? Roku and FireTV devices are way better than built-in stuff

Sony with android here also. Converted from Roku. It's better.

Definitely true in the past but the Android TV platform these days in a lot of TVs is really good.

LG WebOS is also really good just lacks some key streaming apps.

Android or Roku. Vizio's sucks, LG is OK but android and roku knock everything out the water.

My Vizio is pissing me off, but it's almost 10 years old now. It won't stay powered on and the smart features are so slow and worthless. I have 3 Roku TVs and love them, but there was a time I had to unplug one a few times to make it work right, but that hasn't happened in a while.

I am needing to replace my Vizio and wanted to go Roku again because I prefer it over hooking up an external streaming device, but now I am interested in an android TV. I will have to look those up.
