Wife and I going to the US opening game in L.A., so, yeah, kinda excited. Not so much about the team or prospects (like, for instance the way I was in 2010 or 2014) but more looking forward to the event, being there in person, and checking off something big on the bucket list.

Will not be a good showing for the US Team. Wish them well but lack true 1-11 talent and so-so coaching at Best. Can’t expect much with 3-4 guys who can play oversees and a bunch of MSL types.
Want to see Germany come back to being a true world power but same issues…since 2014… no true goal scorers(Wirz best option)slow/weak defense, got some younger talent but hasn’t shown ability to dominate at this level and just a bunch of midfielders so will hopefully get out of the group stages but will be 1 n done if they get to the knock outs.
Hope I am wrong but that’s just being a realistic. So the overall level is watch on TV even though I will be in 3-4 of the cities while the games are going but not even motivated to go in person.

It doesn't seem like things are breaking our way with form and injuries...not feeling great about our chances of doing anything special.
I was a lot more excited generally about the tournament before getting screwed over several times on the ticketing platform.

tickets are fricking insane.
This. The cheapest ticket I can find in Houston or Dallas is $600. And that’s for a terrible seat for GROUP play lol.
It’s unbelievable.

Pretty sure every starter plus our core subs will be top flight Euro guys, minus goal keeper and Tim Ream, who was successful at Fulham.

It’s low now, I’m sure it’ll pick up as it starts. Seems like a big price gouge.
Tickets are astronomical. Add in National team hasn’t been too special.

Was supper excited when we were announced as host in 2018.
Excitement has gone down ever since.
Was hoping to go. Thinking surely USMNT will play in each section of USA.
West coast. East coast. And central.
But more.
F FIFA.
Weak player pool physically and mentally.
Probably worse keeper for USA ever in a World Cup.
On the plus side. Current administration doing everything in their power for USMNT to finally have a majority American crowd.
Can’t remember that ever happening in the USA.
Just hopping out players flip a switch and get stuck in.
Hoping for at least one good memory like Jermaine Jones vs Portugal.
The media sucks at promoting this.
It’s all negative which is not helping.
Typical media.
Everything is gloom and doom.

What are you talking about?
There's like 3 or 4 guys who aren't playing overseas on the team, outside of our terrible goalies.
Pulisic - AC Milan
McKennie - Juventus
Balogun - AS Monaco
Cardosa - Athletico Madrid ( Just announced is having ankle surgery and is out for the world cup)
Weah - Marseille
Pepi - PSV
Richards - Crystal Palace
Tillman - Leverkusen
Trusty - Celtic
Tessman - Lyon
All of those guys played on teams that played European Football this year.
Aronson - Leeds
Robinson - Fulham
Reyna - Borussia Mönchengladbach
Morris - Boro
Scally - Borussia Mönchengladbach
Mckenzie - Toulouse
Freeman - Villareal
Agyemang - Derby

The last World Cup hosted here was a catalyst for my interest in soccer. So it feels like a full circle experience for me as now I coach my two daughters who are very interested in the sport.
That said I’m completely apathetic towards the USMNT because I know it’s going to be a struggle to get out of pool play honestly. US Soccer needs a complete overhaul from the ground up. That includes youth development to the top. Currently, just like travel baseball, it’s a money making business focused on winning and not development. Until that changes, nothing really changes.
I was hoping to be able to take my family to see a real international soccer match. I’m not able to fork out $12k to go see some shite match. FIFA has really gone overboard this time.

Had you shown us our 2026 WC roster with respective clubs listed back in 2014 after we sent what was probably 10-12 MLS players to Brazil, we'd be stoked right now. Guys who star for Milan, Juventus, two hot strikers who play in top flight Euro leagues (remember when Wondolowski was our "we need a goal" sub?), half a dozen guys who are GREAT players for Premier League or other Euro clubs, etc. Our talent level is better than the expectations, which from reading this board and the rest of social media range from not getting out of the group to R32 exit.
Talent wise, we're a top 20 team. I think we'll surprise our own fans this summer. Or probably not. Who knows.

This. The whole "We looked all over the world for a coach and the best candidate just happens to be related to one of our execs! Twice!" thing just wasted the whole run-up to this cycle. Honestly, if we had just handed everything to Caleb Porter four years ago we'd probably be ahead of where we are now. There is talent there for a deep run, But the change in format coupled with a stubborn refusal to play them all together, in their proper positons, with some sense of what you want them to do has left me at being pleasantly surprised if we get out of the group!
That coupled with the number of stars hurt or on their last legs after a 50-60 game club season makes me realize this will not be a World Cup like the others. It will drag on forever without deciding anything and even more stars will get hurt along the way, probably with avoidable heat injuries from playing at noon in Miami! Overall the tournament will really be a test of whose 2nd or 3rd team is better than everyone else's (which is probably one of Spain or France or Argentina or Brazil, or some other ridiculously deep nation) and less about who can field the best XI. So I'm pretty meh, but will still watch. It does feel like a bookend (first international match was a Ireland-Portugal clash in Foxborough in the 1992 US Cup, in the run-up to '94) and saw Sweden play Saudi in Dallas in '94. Glad to see MLS, USL, etc. expand and grow in the last 30 years, but attending European games regularly makes me realize just how far behind we still are.

I don't think this team is much more talented compared to the 2002, 06, 10 and 14 teams.
I think the influx of Americans in top flight euro leagues is more due to there not being a stigma of signing American players as opposed to our talent level increasing that much.

I would have cared a lot more 10 years ago.
Plus the US just isn’t likable anymore. Too bad we didn’t get to host a WC with the 2010 team.

Was really excited when it was announced that the US was hosting and assumed that the USMNT would spread there group stage games around, but we’re not traveling to the west coast to watch them. So that part is disappointing for sure.
It’ll be exciting when it starts and I’ll definitely watch all of the US games and Argentina as well with Messi, not sure how much else I’ll watch (or than the final).

Yeah that's the worst part. Congrats, the US is hosting the world cup! Oh, by the way the only way to guarantee you'll get to see them is if you travel to LA or Seattle. Screw the rest of the country.

My level is at a 6. I went to games in 1994, but not this one. I know Soldier Field sucks, but to have chosen KC over Chicago, Indianapolis, or Nashville is ridiculous.

Why?
KC is centrally located and its fans support everything.
Honestly, I'm pissed the US isn't playing there because it was our best chance to get a true "home crowd"
