Best 2-0 loss ever
Never any doubt. Costa Rica can't score. Kind of surprised they put two away.

Azteca tie made all the difference. Congrats on qualifying. Just a tremendous amount of pressure this team had to get back to the big stage.
while the Azteca point was a big result... the scoring explosion on Sunday was just as huge
here was the situation heading into the Panama match in Orlando... and how big the 4-goal win Sunday was to what happened last night
quote:
If US ties or loses tonight they must tie or win Wednesday to advance to WC
If US wins by 1 tonight they can lose by 3 or less Wednesday and still advance to WC
If US wins by 2 or 3 tonight they can lose by 4 or less Wednesday and still advance to WC
If US wins by 4 or 5 tonight they can lose by 5 or less Wednesday and still advance to WC
If US wins by 6 or 7 tonight they can lose by 6 or less Wednesday and still advance to WC
ETA: how nervous would you have been at 2-0 last night if the US had beat Panama on Sunday by just 1 goal... meaning Costa Rica could've sent us down to the playoff with 4 goals instead of 6?

Game last night was embarrassing

For all the talent on our roster, it was disappointing to lose to a team where most of the players play domestically. That said, Canada also lost both of its road qualifiers in Central America this cycle, so those are difficult places to play. I just hope everyone is healthy for Qatar.

ETA our US Instagram posts are flooded with them bragging for some reason, even though they also finished behind Canada lol.
They weren't able to handle the United States as their equal this century. But now they see the writing on the wall as the US's present and future is superior. The sleeping giant is waking up and they have no reason to believe that they can raise their own ceiling

Look, I may not care to much about punctuation or proper grammar.
But I always try to spell the words correctly. So if you see a post of mine with misspelled words it was probably the whiskeys fault.
And you cant say you didnt get worried when they put 2 goals in the back of the net within 8 minutes of each other. I was having flashbacks.
And another thing, you cant say it wasnt a shite game.

People will lie and claim they’ve been watching since they were catching Honduran CCTV broadcasts of Lalas and the boys but one thing always makes itself very apparent
People simply don’t understand the international qualification game.
It’s a meaningless game. It’s a ROAD qualifier in concacaf.

This one ain't wrong though. Steffen played like arse last night. For the first time in a while our GK situation is a weak spot.

Man, it was a really shitty game for sure. And Steffen looked like dog shite. I can’t disagree with any of that. I actually think we would have looked better if we had rotated. The team looked tired. But damn we need to figure out our keeper and forward situations with the quickness.

Our team is good enough to win against anyone and bad enough to lose to anyone. It’s perplexing to say the least. The potential is there, it’s just the weak links that kill us. We didn’t seem all that interested in keeping possession in the second half at all and the while the back line is solid they still have their derp moments. Steffen should have and could have saved both goals. He doesn’t play enough minutes to warrant starting for us imho.

Yeah, how dare people be happy that we qualified for the World Cup?

GGG is like the guy who buys a fast car but cant drive stick consistently. He is constantly grinding the gears and not getting the best performance.

Not if Turner is playing IMO. Steffen has never done anything that has impressed. His "superior distribution" also often leads to at least one bad giveaway each game. Give me the better shot stopper in Turner all day
Posted on 3/31/22 at 1:29 pm to etm512
Are we sure Turner is going to be seeing regular minutes by WC time with the move to Arsenal?
Posted on 3/31/22 at 1:30 pm to metallica81788
Probably not but Gregg has also shown that playing time doesn't matter, unless that only applies to Steffen...

Let's be real though, Turner was bad at Canada and at Panama too, and now his playing time for club is about to disappear.
Thinking of him as the magic bullet will lead to a letdown. Horvath has had a shaky career as well.
This is by far the weakest we've been at GK heading into a World Cup.
