I’m not one to jump on Bradley but he was a liability tonight on defense. Zardes as usual was shite but more shite than usual. Boyd was off. Just poor all around really.

on point response. in the limited time Tyler was in Germany, he showed himself to be in the top 10, probably top 5 central midfielders in Germany.
I don’t think it’s really that big of a question. Pulisic gets the press because he’s always going to be in an attacking position, and rightfully so.
but Tyler Adams is going to be a world class midfielder when it’s all said and done

I watched every Dortmund game, and Leipzig game once Tyler joined, save a couple, and Tyler was so much fun to watch last season. I’m really hoping he is 100% heading into their camp, regains that starting spot, and doesn’t get injured.
Over the next two years my hot take is that Tyler Adams will thrive, and Pulisic will have a miserable time at Chelsea in the PL ultimately being forced to a super sub role when Chelsea are allowed to purchase again, thus allowing Tyler Adams to take over as the true Captain America.

I agree with it all except I think Pulisic will do well at Chelsea.

I’m really really hoping he does well, but I can’t shake the negative feeling of the entire situation.

They invested too much money into to not give him every chance and then some to establish himself in the XI.
If Pulisic becomes a bench player for Chelsea, it'll be by his own doing, and then we'll have a whole other problem.

Go to about the 5:00 mark of this video. Gregg is asked if it was planned to concede possession in the 2nd half and he basically said that they were playing a prevent defense after going up 1-0.
That's fricking INSANE to ask your team to bunker on a 1 goal lead for 75 minutes, especially when we have more talent on the pitch. Why the frick are we playing scared against Curacao? If he's doing that against them, then if we're lucky to get a 1-0 lead and try that against Mexico, we're going to get picked apart with ease.

That’s what I’m saying will happen. I have no doubt he’s going to get playing time with their transfer ban, hazard leaving, RLC & CHO injuries, age on the wings and the investment made in him. I’m saying I believe he, and they (Chelsea), are going to have a rough go of it over the next year, their fans will lose their shite, and Chelsea will spend big when the ban is finally up, because they realize he’s not the answer... forcing him into a sub in favor of a more talented player(s).
Ultimately I guess I’m saying he won’t be good enough for Chelsea, and it’s going to end badly. I’ll be watching every game, and hoping he makes me eat my words though!

That’s pretty much what 90% of us where saying
Dude better figure it out bc shite like this makes him seem way out of his element

right? that's the correct response to that answer.

The problem was yes we were not going to press the keeper, but the rest of the press was destroyed at will by Curacao... soak that in. When Curacao decided to move forward with the ball they got into dangerous positions with ease. A higher skilled team would of destroyed us.

We are going to get smoked by better teams if this is his strategy.

It was a crappy prevent defense, if that was what Greg was doing. There was too much space for Curacao to pass in the mid field either because of positioning or Bradley (or both).
If not for a brief moment of brilliance by Pulisic and a good header by Weston, we could (?should) have lost the game.
If the quality of possession, mentality, and passing ( with a few exceptions) is the best we have to offer, we are in trouble for next cycle. Our only hope would be if Adams and some of the younger players not on the team provide a big boost in World Cup qualifying.

Listening to (I think) Tony Meola the other day and he nailed our current state.
"We used to go out and compete with Mexico and always think we had a puncher's chance at an upset against the bigger teams in the world. Now we're sitting here praying we don't get upset by the T&Ts and Jamaicas of the world."

He sounds very defensive and a little obnoxious when he answered that question. "These quarterfinals are tight matches and we didn't feel it necessary to expend the energy needed to press the GK". If it's a tight match why the hell are you letting your foot off the gas and getting beat after "not pressing the GK". If Steffen had been in lala land for half a second we'd likely be in a different state.

One of the few good points that Holden made was pointing this out. It was a half assed press which only stretched us out and did nothing to put Curacao in danger. Our front 3 would press high and would just run around as the ball easily passed around them. Then there would be a huge gap until it was one of Bradley or McKennie but not both. Then another gap until our backline that was sagging off to inside the box once Curacao crossed midfield.

Is it possible that a team of highly paid coaches, who have been in the game for 20+ years, cannot see what we see from our couches?
How does one justify the lack of tactical knowledge and adjustments?

After reading a couple pages of this thread, I’m glad I have not wasted one second of my time watching this team.

Total soccer show had a great breakdown of our game. Running two in central mid against Curaçao’s 3, plus our super ineffective press, seem to be our main issues.
