It’s been awful. Several announcers had no idea the current circumstances during Match 3 of each group. It was just pathetic.

I remember that. I forgot which group it was maybe Uruguay’s. But whoever it was mentioned them advancing, the color guy said it was unlikely. He responded not sure how that math works.

You’d think the bare minimum of prep they would do is educate themselves on how the tournament works. Or Fox not allow them to get to that point without knowing.

At the end of the day, one of my memories of this World Cup is going to be how bad the coverage was and that’s shitty

I was just glad to have them speculating when ronaldo would be coming on in a 5-1 blowout

6 goals is exciting and all but hardly worth stayin tuned in if ronaldo isnt gonna play

Rae and Aly Wagner have been my favorite pairing. Aly is lowkey good at explaining what is happening tactically.

god, I didn't notice this before and have noticed it in every Strong game since and it drives me crazy.

plus, I'm getting tired of the American sports references. It's never-ending.

Even Ian got in the action saying he's like the quarterback. Just stop it.

Fox coverage of anything sports is usually shitty. They do ok with the NFL but other than that it’s subpar.

This whole blurb reads as someone just looking for something to bitch about. I’ve enjoyed the World Cup and think the coverage has been fine.

I don’t care for the expert analysis of a bunch of former players I can’t understand sitting around a coffee table awkwardly like Sky sports does either.

Yes! Rae is great. I actually enjoy his play-by-play on EA FIFA.

But the play-by-play announcer who has been the country's most talented and yet most screwed over soccer play-by-play man has to be JP Dellacamera. That man has played second banana to a lot of subpar American play-by-play talent like Jack Edwards, Dave O'Brien, and Stu Holden, yet JP has the most experience of anyone and is great at following the action. Is he too monotone? I don't know but I always wondered this.

Agreed but even a basic Sky panel is a PhD roundtable compared to our talking heads. It’s pathetic. You would learn as much if they just showed a black screen

I know it’s a cliche to hate on him but he’s by far the best American PBP. He’s appropriately mellowed

If we have to have an American, pair him with a proper lad from across the pond and that should be the ‘26 A-team

Which one is the guy who says MESSIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII every time he touches the ball even if he drops into the midfield to collect from the cdm?

Hate that guy.

John Strong being a terrible commentator doesn't help things.

I have been thinking it seems weak. I do not really have a huge catalog of other games to compare to nor between match commentary.
Donovan is horrible and in person he is a little bitch also. I almost got in a fight with him shooting pool in Birmingham years ago. He was always full of himself each time I met him and thought the women loved him. Funny thing was how out of place these guys are when it comes to customs, dress, and attitude when they visit the south.

What gets me is the people who are calling for espn to get it back when it seems the main gripe is the on air talent. A lot of these same fricks would be over at espn if they had it (and have been).

Does FOX pay Alexi to be the John Madden of soccer? He always has to bring up a baseball reference or Muhammad Ali or whatever the frick to make the local drunkard being forced to watch a World Cup game at 1 pm feel like he knows what’s going on

Why didn't Ian Darke get a semifinal game? They're going to blow Strong's voice.
