Turn of the news and go to the local children’s hospital and donate your time in the cancer ward. Put things in perspective.

I'm torn between stringing them along with mild psychotropic meds to maintain steady business, and reminding them that for the cost of a single bullet they can permanently eliminate their anguish.

I'd just tell them to stay away from the news for a while and replace that time by going for a walk.

Tell them this: politics comes and goes - in waves - find something secure and plant one's flag there

1. Do you like camping?
2. Are you good with rustic tent camping or do you want a simple cement block structure?
3. What region would you like to visit while in the camp?

Time to turn the page.

And be unburdened by what has been.

This is easy, but these people have been so infected by the media with the fear mongering that I'm not sure if they could do it.

The statement to remember is simple. "What is?"

Basically forget everything that could happen and focus only on what is happening. Are you currently being put in an internment camp? Are your rights being taken away in any constitutional way? Is there legislation in progress to implement a national abortion ban? Are you in any way currently being negatively impacted by any policies?

The answer to all these is no. Worry about them when the answer is yes. Until then, shut the frick up and live every day to the fullest and enjoy the life you have been blessed with.

Jesus Christ is King and God is in control of all things, including elections.

We are lost in this life if not striving towards the goal of reconciliation with God over our sins. I'd encourage such "patients" to seek peace with God through faith in Jesus Christ and put their trust in Him rather than the princes of this earth.

To focus specifically on what changes happen to their actual daily life. Make a list of 100% objective things have changed for the worse for their own lives, but also what things change for the better. Make a list, and be sure to observe it consciously.

Dr. Zach would have her relax on the couch while I pulled up a chair.
Me: 'Who do you live with?'
Her: 'Just my mother and my cute little cat.'
Me: 'If there was a great flood and you could only save your mom or your cat who would you save?'
Her: 'OMG!!! I can't decide! I just want to kill myself!'
Me: 'That would be OK. We already got your check for this session.'
