I’m not sure I even understand what she’s supposed to be saying there.
She actually likes and respects him personally but her creed and tribe prevents her from seeing him as anything more than opposition. Kind of like the T-800 in Terminator 2 listening to young John Connor explain human emotions to him and whatnot but all the T-800 could do was understand why and never actually change his programming- just follow orders.

Sounds like she was trying to get a better understanding of him. She votes contrary to almost everything I stand for, but I will never fault a person for looking at interactions and motivations to move beyond simple party lines
You say that like she’s entitled to her opinion. Her job is to enforce the constitution.

And yet...
We are supposed to be surprised that someone who disagrees with her is somehow a decent person despite that.

Problem here is that Sotomayor thinks of Thomas as an adversary. That in itself says how politicized the Supreme Court has become.

Sotomayor is so stupid I honestly don’t know how she keeps breathing.
She’s so stupid and clueless I would think her autonomic responses would give up on their own.

1. She’s not very bright and not well spoken at all.
2. She pulled out the tired “if they think differently than me it’s because of fear” bullshite at around 38:45. They’re like broken records.

Justice Thomas sounds very southern, in the best way.

I know what I said. I also have no lack of understanding about what the supreme court IS.
Look throughout the history of the supreme court. Their job is not to "uphold the constitution". Their job is to interpret it.
So, this is why Trump packing courts was so important.
Passing laws is easy. Any law can be passed.
The supreme court was created to make sure those laws were in alignment with what THEY thought the constitution meant(based on case law)
The problem we have now, is that there is so much case law to cite in your opinion, that you can almost cite anything and get the outcome you desire. Judicial branch has essentially become a legislative branch because they have so much material to cite.
This is why it is so important to have conservatives on the court. Because if you don't, then leftists can interpret the constitution to say anything they want it to.

Sounds like the Wise Latina (like Scalia and Ginsberg) is bright enough to understand that ideological differences do not equate to either bad faith or evil intent.
How many people just realized that Sotomayor is brighter than they? How many will admit it, even to themselves?

They will find themselves looking at the same issue from different perspectives (and reaching different conclusions) with greater regularity than perhaps any two justices on the court.

THEY both have the maturity to understand that.

Calling someone an adversary tends to mean you're an ideologue.
Glad the communist said something nice before they shoot you in the back.

Ridiculous.
They are both POC and democrats are quite adamant that all POC share the same brain.

she doesn’t even understand the document that she’s supposed to render opinions on. I love Clarence, I have a small framed portrait of him in my office, but I don’t give a flying frick what she has to say about anything
Posted on 6/21/22 at 2:29 am to TerryDawg03
By calling him an adversary she's basically admitting what she is, an activist
Posted on 6/21/22 at 4:30 am to TerryDawg03
The fact that Thomas idolized and constantly concurred with the biggest brain on the Court (Scalia) shows he's a wise man.

This says it all.
They should be interpreting the same constitution. They aren’t adversaries.
100%. Without a case or controversy before her, how can she know that she and Justice Thomas will be on opposite sides of the "v"? "Will you be an adversary of ___" should be adopted as a threshold question at the SJC.
On another note, my dishwasher is making sounds like an Ewok chant.

My mom knows Justice Thomas well. He's an extremely nice human being. She'll send him books he wrote to have him sign and he'll sign them/mail them back.
