Well just this week Alberta got the required signatures to force a vote. So that's a new development.

No, people that believe Alberta would be a red state have never been to Alberta or worked with people from Alberta. They are very friendly but very liberal compared to red states. Whenever they do project presentations at our department meetings they always highlight how they involved the first nations and how the first nations were so mistreated. The whole first nations thing is like DEI on steroids, a constant reminder in everything they do how terrible we all are. On top of that, about 25% of people in Alberta are first generation Canadians. Be careful what you ask for.

Opening up Alberta would be duplicated for Washington DC, Puerto Rico/VI, etc..

It would be pre-civil war again stacking states for political gain back and forth (just like the Dems want to do with the Supreme Court).

Territory yes is the best we can offer.

NO - territory perhaps, but no way in hell I'd want them to vote or have congressional representation

State? No.

Territory? Maybe. That area has ag as well as O&G.

But it ain't gonna happen. I know about their little referendum, but the globalist commies in Ottawa will never let them separate.

Also: Every Canadian I've ever met (fairly large sample size) is fricken weird. Even the rural ones who are not straight up socialists.

We have enough weirdos already.

No. Conservative Canadians are about the same as Minnesotans.
