All these people opposing your idea as if they are future billionaires.
The trump administration has been focusing on making things easier for the billionaires, like tax cuts for them.
Instead, trump should be doing things for the middle class and those less fortunate. You know, us. The people posting and reading on this forum.
"Trickle down" has been a documented failure since Reagan. All it has done is transfer wealth from the middle class to the billionaires. How absurd is that?

No, I think we just raise taxes on you since you advocate taking other people's money. Just to let you know how it feels.

If the education system isn't reformed that tax will be wasted.

First you say,
1...give kids an incentive to appreciate capitalism
2...understand the miracle of compound investing
3...stem the tide on the youth believing in socialism
Then you say,
1...wealth tax for those worth over a billion
2...If we gave that 1% tax
3...this a direct transfer of wealth
So what is it man? Capitalism or Socialism?
Is you is, or is you ain't?

BS , go to the golf course or back to the nursing home.
I worked for your damned party. Democrats are nothing more than liars and thieves.
“Give it to me! I can do more with it than you can!”
I’ve seen entire industries destroyed by you people. All you want to do is steal from others because you don’t have drive or talent to do it yourself.

Stupid idea. 1% of “wealth” every year will grow to be a big number. Who would stay in the USA if in 20 years they will have to give 20% of their assets to the government? Mind you this is after they’ve paid income taxes of over 40% on their annual earnings.
But the bigger reason this is a stupid idea is that billionaires (and most wealthy people) dont have their wealth sitting around as a cash asset. Their wealth is mostly in the form of a business valuation, or the value of some asset in general. A wealth tax, even at only 1% per year, will necessarily force people at some point to sell their assets, like their interest in a business. Just a dumb idea and completely degrades the idea of private property ownership and incentives that make innovation and investment possible.

The “Trump Seed Account” is one of the most damaging things he can do for the future
1. It will accelerate inflation. By the time it’s mature, that ~$mill will have same purchasing power that $20,000 has today
2. That is some democratic socialist type shite.
You got severely down voted but you're kinda correct.
It's impossible for the majority of Americans in 50 years to be millionaires/billionaires with the same standard of living and purchasing power of the millionaires/billionaires today. Think about it. Just 30 years ago if you had $1 million hard cash you were sitting pretty good, today $1.5 million is the minimum amount of money most financial planners agree is required to retire somewhat comfortably, and that's assuming an annual inflation rate below 2.5%.

here's what i'd be in favor of 63% of american's pay no income tax, how bout we focus on those people instead of taxing unrealized capital gains.

The trump Invest America accounts that go to newborn kids seeded with $1000 from the gov and parents and others can put $$ in these accts and they’re pegged to the market tax free.
What's to prevent parents from stealing the money before the kids ever have a chance to touch it, because you know America has some trashy arse parents that will look at this as just another government giveaway ripe for fraud.

If those seized funds went to subsidize markets to eliminate bringing in 3rd worlders absolutely.

Only socialists like SDVtiger are in favor of new taxes.

You said tax, I say no.
You're old enough to understand the slipperly slope is real.

I don't support wealth taxes.
I support lowering taxes and cutting out BS spending where those taxes are unnecessary.

No. Being "worth" a billion and HAVING a billion aren't the same thing. Nobody should ever have to liquidate assets to pay extortion money to the government. Granted, it's on a much smaller scale, but my net worth vs. what I could actually sit down and write a check for right now aren't even close to the same.

What you are proposing is identical to property tax, except you are suggesting all property (ie. all assets) be taxed. I agree with previous posts that this is a bad proposal.
What's odd is though we all oppose your wealth tax, most of us willingly pay up to 3% property tax annually on our homes, business assets, etc., and never say or do anything about it.
We need to abolish all property/wealth taxation.

Nope. Any and all taxation on income or wealth is theft and therefore immoral.
If the government really wanted to help people grow wealth, they would stop the ridiculous tax on social security income, remove the cap on tax free savings (IRA), raise the home sale taxable amount well above the $500,000 it’s been for 30 years and any other hinderance to savings.
