President Biden says to terminate the broadcast licenses of FoxNews and OANN

If President Biden actually said something so absurd, most of you justifiably would be complaining and saying that he doesn't understand the 1st Amendment.

Of course, President Biden didn't say that. But trump did say this:

Thus demonstrating his lack of understanding of the 1st Amendment. He dishes it out, but he can't take it. And as a public figure, he has to take criticism, that's one of the costs of having freedom of expression.

Gaining momentum

Yeah, like a turd gains momentum as it swirls down the bowl.
Well, yes, constitutionally speaking, they all are eligible to run.

That doesn't mean they are qualified though.

The Capitol Park Museum is surprisingly good. It isn't a Smithsonian-level museum, but it does do a nice job of capturing the different regions of the state. It is next to the State Capitol, and you should go to see both.

Every American should go to the WWII Museum in NOLA. It is worth a trip to NOLA, if that is all you do there. It will take an entire day, and will make a huge impact on you. Cannot recommend this enough.
Hunter Biden, just like the trump children, is completely unqualified to serve as POTUS.

So what exactly is the problem with her being hired?

Well let's just go ahead and be honest here, shall we?

If it had been a white male baw who had been appointed, not a single one of you would have been concerned or even noticed.

Deputy chief with 30+ years with the Department, chief of EMS, who was one of the 9/11 heroes, of course baw is qualified. Great hire.

Same exact resume, except with a gay woman, and now the reaction is NYNY is fricked, horror show, 1000% DEI and they should be ashamed, does she know how to put out a fire, this is unacceptable, and jokes about being gay.

Next time y'all don't understand white male privilege, just look at this thread.

DEI anyone?

Well let's consider this.

What's the problem with her hire?

Is it because she's a woman?
Is it because she's gay?
Is it because she worked in the Department for more than 30 years?
Is it because she previously served as the chief of emergency medical services?
Is it because she was a part of the 9/11 response?
Is it because she was promoted to deputy chief in 2009?

We don't have the resumes of the other candidates, but it does appear that she has the experience and qualifications that are necessary for the job.

So what exactly is the problem with her being hired?

Mayor-Elect Zohran Mamdani appointed Lillian Bonsignore as commissioner of the New York City Fire Department.

Bonsignore is a veteran of the department with more than 30 years of experience and previously served as the chief of emergency medical services before retiring in 2022. Bonsignore is coming out of retirement to serve the city and will be the first uniformed woman to lead the department.

"I know what the firefighters need, and I can translate that to this administration," said Bonsignore.

Bonsignore was born and raised in The Bronx. She responded to the 9/11 terror attacks and quickly climbed ranks in the department, receiving the title of deputy chief by 2009.

In 2019, she made history when she was appointed as the chief of EMS operations for the FDNY, becoming the first woman and first openly LGBTQ+ individual to hold the title in the department.

Bonsignore says her top priorities include improving response time, public education, prevention and pay equity.

"This is literally a job that people cannot live without. We have to make sure we are taking care of our EMS system," said Bonsignore.

How about let's be happy for our pretty good record so far, and cheer for the Tigers the rest of the season?

I have no remorse for my whiteness

Neither do I. No reason whatsoever to apologize for being white.

That said, white privilege exists. Still no reason to apologize for being white, but yes, white privilege exists.
Oh, he's talking about white privilege? Well why didn't he say that instead?

Yeah, sure we have white privilege, whether you know or acknowledge it or not.

You ever been pulled over for driving while white?

Ask your black friends whether they have ever been pulled over by police for driving while black. It is a very common occurrence.

That is just one example. Still nothing to apologize for being white, however.
Yes, I'm serious. That photo simply shows them in prayer or a moment of silence.

Did they have a press conference at the time where they apologized for being white? If so, I am unaware of it. Perhaps an article on that, if that is actually what happened.

And I guess that at some time, some person actually did apologize for being white. For sake of discussion, I will assume that someone did so.

And so what? One person makes such an apology, and that warrants a comment from the Vice President? Doesn't make sense.

Did you see this?

Thread from TD today.

If you were referring to the first post in that thread, I just watched it, and did not see the lady apologize for being white.

Perhaps there was something else in the thread?
A photo of the former Speaker and others, and it appears they may be praying or having a moment of silence.

Not sure of the relevance here.
Do you know anyone who has ever had to apologize for being white?

If not, then why did the Vice President make his comment?
Most, if not all, of the people that I listed died from covid. They would not have died but for covid.
Since this is Political Talk, here are some Louisiana officials who died of covid:

Congressman-elect Luke Letlow
State Representative Reggie Bagala
Former State Representative Vic Stelly and his wife
Former State Representative Frankie Howard
Former State Representative Steve Carter
West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes
Chair of the Louisiana Developmental Disabilities Council April Dunn

Some other notable Louisiana citizens who died of covid:

State Senator Regina Barrow's husband, James G. Barrow Sr.
Former New Orleans Saints kicker Tom Dempsey
Father of former Saints quarterback Bobby Hebert, Bobby Hebert, Sr.
Legendary jazz pianist, Ellis Marsalis Jr.
Steel Magnolias actress Carol Sutton
quote:

I still don’t know anyone that died from Covid or any other variation of it.

I am happy for you, and hope that it stays that way.

Many of us are not so fortunate.
