I strongly suspect that those classes were from a longer list of options from which the students could satisfy degree requirements (a minimum number of credits in "humanities" for example). It is highly doubtful that everybody had to take those exact joke classes.

In any case, though, UH is a woke ghetto school.

That's the whole thing in a nutshell. Auburn is the better academic institution BECAUSE its heavy in engineering and other programs that lead to well paying jobs. The smartest kids will gravitate to majors that lead to better paying jobs, and Auburn offers a higher percentage of those programs. BTW, Auburn has become dramatically more selective in a really short time. Auburn had an 85% acceptance rate in 2020 and its down to 46% for Fall 2027. In the same time, the average SAT went from 1150 to 1345! That didn't all come from cherry picking in-state kids. Auburn is attracting more academically solid kids from out-of-state now.

For many teams, half of that could just be how the scheduling worked out. The difference between 4 losses and 6 could just be when you had your easy vs. hard opponents clustered together. That doesn't really apply if you are losing 9-11 games in a row, however.

A&M in state tuition is about $12k /year Cost of attendance can be very low if you get the cheapest dorms or rent a cheap place farther from campus. Food cost can be low too if you don't eat fast food all the time. I knew lots of folks paying their own way through school at A&M.
