re: Why do old people go to the default argument of $6 coffee when talking about affordability

because if you get a 6 dollar coffee every morning before work X roughly 260 work days per year that 1560 + per year if your only drinking one per day.. I know people that are stopping twice sometime 3 times per day getting starbucks.. That shite adds up
Supposedly, the average Gen Z'er only spends at the low end $30 and on the high end $50/month on coffee. If that's figure is to be trusted, the everyday thing would seemingly be overblown.

How many Boomers do you think participate in ANTIFA activities?

We tried it 20 yrs ago.
Democrat-socialists went apeshit.
Not because the proposal would have reduced "benefits." It would have done the opposite. Democrat-socialists went apeshit because they (as the actual beneficiary of SS) would have lost the ability to borrow, spend, and control extensive SSTF monies.

gen x had a lot to do with craft breweries getting started, but that popularity grew after most of us started staying home to drink.
Um no
The losers lining up to get the new releases at breweries 5-10 years ago were mostly Gen X and older millennials
Nationwide there are now more closures of breweries than openings
Also nobody has talked about the amount of wasteful spending boomers did at the bar before they went home after work and the other social ills that led to
Millennials with kids don’t do that

This. The craft beer snobs were young gen-x and older millennials.
Zoomers…don’t…DRINK! They consume alcohol at FAR lower rates than previous generations. When they do drink, it’s cheap seltzers, buzz balls, and domestic beer because they’re broke.
I’m not saying young people today don’t have wasteful habits by a long shot (the zoomers I know are hooked on doordash and dumb gambling loot box type purchases), but you’re attributing spending habits of middle aged people to early 20’s people, and that’s just not the case. Most of the people I see in line at starbucks or encounter in the wild are millennials and gen x. I’m not saying zoomers don’t like nice coffee, but most can’t afford it and treat it as a luxury like boomers do.

My thing with the boomers is this idea that they handled everything with financial grace and it's just the youngins that are screwing the pooch. According to the data, boomers are more likely than the average consumer to waste money on food, utilities and things like lottery tickets. Over two thirds of them are carrying some form of debt into their retirement years and over 40% of Americans 55-64 have zero saved for retirement. The median net worth of Boomers today is only 350-400k and that's including home equity from when homes were significantly cheaper.
Do young people waste money? Sure. Is it laughable to pretend this is a new thing and that Boomers weren't wasteful too. 100%.

Makes sense as the oldest gen z folks only became legal drinkers around 8 years ago.

Since you refuse to back up your arguments, I looked it up and did find an article stating that in the last year or two there have been slightly more closings than openings. Since Gen X was the only generation frequenting these places, you would expect this to have happened much sooner.

So talk about it. Hell, I may even agree with you.

how do you waste money on utilities? do you have an out house or do you just wait until they turn your electricity off?

well 63% of american's can't cover an unexpected $500 expense. here's what i've noticed in my 65 years on earth, you will never lose money under estimating the average american.

Even if the victimhood narrative was correct instead of a perpetual snowflake melt, the snowflakes don't even get the math right.
Deficit spending started with FDR in the 30s, before the Boomers were born.
All of the entitlement expansions and "borrowed benefits" spending started happening between the mid 60s and the 70s/early 80s.
When the oldest Boomers were 20-30 years old.
The moron above cites his one example of Barack Obama (who was the fifth youngest POTUS ever), but overwhelmingly the people in power when all of the dastardly deeds that supposedly doom the snowflake generation to poverty were started weren't even Boomers.
If you're going to craft a whiney victimhood narrative, at least research the right generation to blame.

According to yahoo finance, living in larger homes than they need, holding onto inefficient legacy appliances, maintaining unnecessary landline phone subscriptions, and leaving electronics or heating and cooling running in empty rooms are a couple of reasons.

Was about to say this. It's a myth that boomers were the fiscally responsible ones throughout their lives.

Why do young people go to the default blaming of old people when they don’t get what they want in life seemingly immediately after finishing their career preparation? Every generation has faced struggles to be successful in life. It’s part of the process.

And when did this take place?
Also, if that's the case, I assume you can point me to large segments of young people who oppose, minorities, queers, immigrants, etc. Larger segments of those ages groups than the older age groups.

Everybody inherently understood that and it was never an issue until the first Trophy Generation was reared.

So do they have all the wealth, or not?
According to the data he posted, seems like the answer is no.
If that's the case, I don't know what all the crying and blaming is about. If the Boomers are just like everybody else.

Boomers are still on the colorblind, anyone can be an American bullshite. Even if they say they don’t support those things now, it wasn’t millennials or zoomers who greatly shifted the demographics of this country, got may marriage legitimized, etc
