Given the number of liberal friends I have, I bet I can give a pretty good answer here. Liberals find the benefits/utility of firearms to be far outweighed by the consequences of their misuse. They, generally speaking, don't hunt or keep guns for home or personal protection. They are, however, aware--as we all are--of mass killings, "garden variety" murders, and suicides that involve guns. There may well be some truth to your items 1-4, but the foregoing more accurately describes what I have heard actual progressives say.

People rationalize their views based on very small subsets of data, a practice called “thin-slicing”.
A pro 2A person might see “shall not be infringed” and that’s the end of that discussion.
An anti 2A person might see other western countries with much less gun violence and conclude that a change in the laws will make life better.
Because thin-slicing is so much easier (we’re all hardwired to do it.) than approaching complex subjects with an open mind and researching facts before becoming a champion of your stance, very few take that path.
A pro 2A person might see “shall not be infringed” and that’s the end of that discussion.
An anti 2A person might see other western countries with much less gun violence and conclude that a change in the laws will make life better.

Don't know what shite your smoking...I know plenty of liberals here in Washington (shocker!) who own guns and all of them like myself a gun toting conservative have no issue with common sense gun reform. The big bad government isnt coming to "get our guns" but hey..if that's the batsh*t crazy mindset you all are in..then feel free to go to the nearest doctor's office and GET HELP!

Yeah, they are misinformed and given to emotional responses over logic.
The Left hates individualism at the core of the issue. They see private ownership of firearms as an expression of indivdualism and a statement that one is not going to put 100% of their reliance on the State. The government is going to protect you so why should you have a gun? That's their prevailing attitude.

Only a complete twat uses the term "common sense" when trying to win a political argument. It's a means to end all further conversation and it's why there is almost no real traction despite all the gnashing of teeth in regards to gun control.
Who is ever going to be interested in coming together over an issue when you come to the table with what you are declaring are the only common sense opinions...meaning everything else is not? Not to mention, you've declared no room for any compromise on your side, because that would mean accepting a compromise that is not common sense. It's either your way 100% or nothing.
