It’s an insane position. The government should ignore the law and decide how to do things on the fly? Aren’t you alleging that is happening in your OP?

A sanctuary city means they aren’t going to deport you for coming forward if you witnessed a crime.
Or if you commit one.

resources for enforcing the law are finite. decisions have to be made on what to prioritize. This is real basic stuff man.

weed possession no, armed robbery yes

We do prioritize. That’s why most subject to removal proceedings aren’t detained.

Practically all of them. You can play word games if you like, DS, but anyone who is for sanctuary cities, for total amnesty, and against a border wall is defacto pro-open borders.
Even you could do the Math on that if you really wanted to.

lol
so basically you want to be able to put words in peoples mouths and ignore nuance with impunity. got it.

What if you only check 2 of the 3 boxes? 1 of the 3? What If someone supports sanctuary cities for states rights purposes? Does that mean they automatically support open borders too? What if you check all 3 boxes but support other border controls and illegal immigration enforcement activities? Are you saying border wall is the only legitimate form of border security?

Trump just wants to throw a bone to the Hard Right, by asking for $5G for The Wall.

the amount of people that misunderstand the 10th Amendment is staggering.

Is not the same at all. And you damn well know it.

being against a border wall that doesn’t actually address the real problem of people coming legally
It actually and factually does address it. 90% to 98% effectiveness is great!

overstaying their visas does not qualify as wanting open borders.
Separate issue...

And a wall is a great way to use those resources.

Mayors of Sanctuary Cities
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio: “We’re going to defend all of our people regardless of where they come from, regardless of their immigration status.”
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel: “I want to be clear: We’re going to stay a sanctuary city. There is no stranger among us. Whether you’re from Poland or Pakistan, whether you’re from Ireland or India or Israel and whether you’re from Mexico or Moldova, where my grandfather came from, you are welcome in Chicago as you pursue the American dream.”
Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser: “Our city and our values did not change on Election Day in November 2016. Being a sanctuary city means we are not an agent of the federal government. It means that our police can focus on serving D.C. residents - protecting and serving them - no matter their immigration status.”
Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh: “We don’t walk around asking people where they’re from. That’s just not our policy. We don’t do that. What we want is to help people become productive members of our community. We’re a welcoming city. We want everybody here. We want to provide opportunities and jobs and careers for folks.”
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock: “We will value residents in this city. We won’t take any unlawful or unconstitutional acts against residents of the city of Denver. It is our goal to make sure people in the city feel safe and know that this is a city that’s open, welcoming and inclusive.”
Boulder Mayor Suzanne Jones: “We are not going to violate immigrants’ constitutional rights just because the new president wants us to. And we stand behind our ordinance.”
San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose Mayors Ed Lee, Libby Schaaf and Sam Liccardo: “We will not give in to threats, or political grandstanding. Together, the Bay Area will stay true to our values of inclusiveness, compassion and equality, and united against any and all efforts to divide our residents, our cities, and our country.”
