Losing primaries, to red hat populism and elon cash.

Hard to get elected when your platform is cutting government spending and power. What wins is throwing money around to various groups and claiming government solves problems.

No it’s not that’s just an excuse. Again if that’s the better message it’s not winning anyone.

Excuses and you’re using one sample of Massie who ignored his constituents. And he’s too big of a puss to run as a libertarian

So yes, conservatives have been sulking in the corner for a long time.

The last conservative president was Ronald Reagan.

you know with the way the MSM I am not sure one can be an actual conservative and survive for the long haul.

If you are a true conservative then you are the target of a relentless and never ending MSM attack that erodes your moderate supporters.

Paul, Massie
Advancing American Freedom (AAF)

Independent or Center-Right Realignment: Some traditional or "establishment" figures and former Republican officials (such as Joe Walsh or David Jolly) have argued that the modern GOP is fundamentally a MAGA party, leading some to disengage from the party or look elsewhere, while others attempt to preserve traditional principles within local or state offices

Most of that is AI but there's a start

Absolutely right
They don’t want to have their lives ruined. It’s the communist plan

So we get people like trump and Paxton who are willing to fight but the base won’t stick with them because they’re imperfect

This I would agree. However he is America First and is currently moving America back to the American Way from British Imperialism.

And Obama is fighting him behind the scenes.

We, and they, acknowledge your populist victory and current control over the Republican party. Congratulations.

I anticipate more conservative candidates will appear in 2 years as opposition to all the incoming Democrat congressman and Senators. It will be interesting to see if the populist angle continues to dominate the GOP after this mid term arse whooping and 2 years of a Dem majority.

No. It’s an indictment on how fricking stupid and entitled the electorate has become. You need more conservatism not less.

DJT is the ultimate outlier and he is not really a conservative IMHO, at least not a fiscal conservative

a brash NYC Kennedy Dem with a long national media presence, hit TV show, billionaire with almost superhuman energy and resolve and attitude is not a template for success for anyone else

thankfully he loves his country because if he didnt and wanted to use his platform to finish off this country I think he could have come pretty close

Because conservatism inherently requires personal responsibility, which requires effort and personal risk.

Victimhood (populism) appeals to government to fix everything for them while there is little personal effort or risk required.

Same reason a child will always choose a Snickers over a head of broccoli.

This is the correct answer.

What has happened is that life is too easy and good in the United States. It has calibrated people such that they feel entitled to having someone else solve all their problems and to never have to face challenges. If they do, they get angry and start pointing fingers.

If this was a Planet of The Apes movie, this would be the Rise Of Populism installment.

IMO this will happen as many will realize our debt and our inability to finance never ending deficits will be what be what eventually brings this this country down.

When the shitshow happens, who is getting blamed for the shitshow? It won't be conservatives as they were the only ones fighting it.

Staunch conservatives don't exist on the national stage anymore. There's not enough support for them.
