Weird because I'm 30 and it seems obvious to me that our quality of life is better than it has ever been.

Yeah.
Saying the US will never fail is just as simple minded as saying that the US is guaranteed to fail within the next 50 years.
Aliens could land in China next year and give all their technology to China.

It will be a conservative republic once again. There will be a civil war between now and then and a lot of people will die but most all liberals will die.

By "fail" he could mean lose prominence. Take France, a world power in the 19th century and now not only is it not a world power, their are ME countries that arguably could challenge it. It gets most of its defense via US.
Hell, that's most of western and some of eastern Europe.
Many former Empires fell barely a century ago. The US has taken the place of what Imperial English and France use to do. And despite our military power, its become a burden to fund all of these bases. It doesn't help that other countries are free loading off of our technology and medical advances.

Believe it or not.. some socialist policies have done pretty well for this country. Not like anyone has ever been in this position before.. so we are writing the playbook.
