By everything becoming more expensive, just like with the stimulus checks.

That’s the fallout.

Are you saying increased tax revenues due to higher prices will cover it?

Sounds logical until you realize Trump would just get slapped around by the bond market again.

Are we taking that seriously or is that a sign of desperation?

A bit of both. You don't throw that kind of thing out in such a setting unless you're wanting to run it up the flagpole to see how many will salute it.

The attempt is DOA though. All spending bills have to originate in the House then pass through both chambers before the President can sign off on it.

100% of the Democrats in Congress are going to be against this just on the "OMB" stance alone, which means it fails at least in the Senate. If three GOP members in the House flip, it doesn't even make it out of the House.

And what are the numbers on that? Gotta be in the hundreds of billions, right?

There are approximately 270M adult citizens in the US. $5,000 x 270M = $1.35T. This sort of cash injection would bring us right back to (and probably over) the "transitory" inflation we saw with the COVID stimmy checks and forebearances.

A humbling would be good for the GOP.

MAGA needs to be purged from the party. For years we were told we needed to be more "inclusive" and have a "bigger tent" and we were kind enough to let these people in. How did these morons reward our kindness? By hijacking the party, moving it to the left, and embracing RINO's who have been life-long Democrats that support socialist nonsense.

If November is a disaster, all the MAGA RINO's in Congress need to be primaried. And if 2028 looks bleak, RINO Vance needs to be the nominee so he can go down with the MAGA RINO ship. The money needs to go to down-ballot races to stop Dems from having a super majority in 2028.

It won't be long and Trump will be bragging about raising bond yeilds again. "They're a great investment, and I've made them have higher returns!". (it woudn't be the first time).

The same way we paid for the $5K DOGE checks and the $2K tariff refunds.

We're not because Trump is lying again

But it seems to me the only way you’d turn down $5k is by committing election fraud.

What does this even mean?

Because he isn't serious. He hopes he can energize the dumbest and poorest in his base to get to the polls.

Republican version of the "forgive student loans" promise from the Dems.

Both are nonsense.
