I saw where they gave a 500 million contract to an ammo company in texas to produce ammo. They produced zilch.

The amount of waste and grift in the US military budget is most likely staggering. I always get a kick out of Republicans who will see waste and fraud everywhere in gov’t yet gladly increase the military’s blank check.
We could easily cut our military budget in half and be just as well off. We don’t need this:

I heard someone say the problem is the MIC exists to get contractors rich, not properly equip our military.
While that is also true, I don’t feel as if our military is less equipped as a result. Our weaponry has been very effective. Missiles getting through. Exact targets hit with precision. Our jets take care of man pads and SAM launching stations.
Maybe I’m way off base but it seems as if our military has been an overall great success.

Do we have a plan yet or are you assholes just going to whine about it?

Disability doesn't come out of the DoW funding bill. The VA is funded separately.

This has been the main issue with the US and armed conflict since the Korean conflict.

Powerus and Unusual Machines are the two companies.

It typically goes into pensions / disability, or black hole projects. With the projects, there is lots of waste I’m sure, but then you end up with some crazy tech advancements as well.
Given the top secret nature of their R&D, I’m not sure how a spotlight can be placed on that area. It sucks, but at the same time, that’s the design (national security).
Disability needs some DOGE work. Some of these claims are rather dubious.

They have been handcuffed the past few months. Even if they had a perfect plan and strategy to win the conflict with Iran they couldn’t execute the plan because the politicians will not get out of the way.

The current US military is the most capable military ever to patrol the planet. That does not mean it is the most efficient military.
To stay number 1 in the power rankings, you have to plan, design, and build at the bleeding edge. The problem with this is you have to anticipate not only the flavor of war you will fight at some remote time in the future but the specific foes you will fight along with their capabilities and doctrine at the time. With an ever-changing potential battlespace, this means you are going to go down some dead ends, and as time marches on, it becomes clear that it is not the hardware you are going to need. You have to scrap projects and, especially naval and air projects, which can mean dumping projects you have billions of dollars in. This continues until DARPA invents a crystal ball.
Being on the bleeding edge is expensive, but it is what it takes to continue military hegemony.
BTW the $500 hammer is nothing but a myth and has to do with some simplified accounting.
