That would require a plan, which we don’t have.

I think I see the strategy. We are leaving the Middle East from a military perspective, as we aren’t rebuilding bases. I don’t think we see a ground invasion, and I think we keep the pressure up another 4-6 weeks. Destroy as much as we can of their military and nuclear capabilities. The rest of the region needs to step up and help here. Then, we pivot to pulling out. What if Trump can say before the midterms he has removed us from the Middle East.

I don't know. But 1400 years of well-documented history is indicative that the regime will fight until every last one of them are dead. They want to be martyrs. Any "peace agreement" is just kicking the can down the road again until someone finally has the balls to finish the job.

Identity and terminate IRGC cells that have spread out among the population. Note that the Regime is now arresting people who give information to the enemy. If the Regime thugs come out of their holes to fight they will give away their positions and will be hammered by A-10s and Drones pretty quickly. Albeit they are likely holing up in hospitals and schools. Trash.

Trump wants to preserve as much critical infrastructure as possible for the new Regime and people. So a lot of the focus is on securing shipping without damaging infrastructure. Might have to sweat out those who depend on the oil getting out. CCP at the fore.

The next move is to give the citizens the go ahead. Not sure what conditions they have set for that to happen.

I think it’s pretty simple. Keep dropping a bomb on every new leader until you get one that wants to play ball.

I have no clue what ratio of Iranians are or could be Westernized. I do know our track record in the ME is really bad at figuring that out.

Iran was pretty 'westernized' back in the 70s.

Take control of the oil and starve the regime for money.

You can cut off the oil, but you can’t “take control of it”. They would shut the wells rather than give it away. You could flow the wells on, or around Kharg Island, but that’s about it. Almost all the oil comes from the mainland.

Iran terrain is way more mountainous than Afghanistan too.
I dont think bombing will dethrone the top brass in Iran.

I dont see a good plan.

I think that’s a little overplayed according to an Iranian physician friend. We’ve seen those old videos. It’s like showing a video from a SanFran gay parade and telling everyone outside the US that all of the US is like this, according to him.

This is incorrect. The USACE is already holding industry days for not only rebuilding, but expansion in the Middle East.

Dude, one does not need to be Muslim to become an insurgent and fight an invading force. The fear of the world's greatest insurgency is what keeps us safe.

"The next move is to give the citizens the go ahead. Not sure what conditions they have set for that to happen."

I would love for this to happen, but the closest thing I have heard to an alternative would be the Shah's son who would govern as an interim leader. do they have nearly enough people--and power--to stand up to the Republican Guard? It would seemingly require a substantial portion of the regular army to support regime change, but who steps up and puts his life on the line? I would love for there to be an effective uprising but fear that they conditions don't exist for one. The administration stopped short of true regime in Venezuela, but Iran went and propped up the hardliner's son. I suspect Trump would be willing to stop short in Iran, too, but it will be hard to claim victory if the hardliner's son is leading the country when the US Navy steams away and the bombs cease falling.

Airpower alone is a panacea. You can't accomplish anything without a ground component, and the psychological effects of planting a flag in the ground
