There are homeless populations. They’re just tucked away. Like in Tokyo, they were along the Arakawa River in Shitamachi. They used to be at Ueno Park but they cleaned that up I guess.

I used to work with a black guy from San Francisco that spoke Japanese well but he would occasionally buy a bottle of wine and go down to the homeless camp and chat with the homeless down there. Helped his conversation skills.

The homeless in America have a lot of mentally ill and drug addicted population, but the Japanese homeless were mostly men that just dropped out of society. Teachers, professors, salarymen, ex-military, etc. He was surprised by the people he met down there.

Discipline. The Japanese withhold instant gratification to pursue goals and possess more ambition that what we see here in the US.

I’d love to deport our ‘culture’ to Japan, Korea, UAE, Qatar, etc for a month and see how much they like it. They would be begging to come back after one day.

The USA has no shame. Japan and Korea raise their children to avoid shame at all costs.

Son is married to a beautiful Japanese girl, living & working there for 7+ yrs. She told me that Japan is 95% Japanese, & has been, so their culture is part of their DNA from birth. It is very much a male dominated society, as well,, family is part of their DNA from birth. Children do not leave the family home till they marry

Shame...
Shame has always been big in Japanese culture. Bringing Shame to your family, community or country is looked down upon and to be avoided.
Having shame about anything in America has all but gone away.

Unfortunately that may change. Their birth rates are even worse than ours and I’m sure someone will eventually get elected that will import 3rd worlders.

True.

Also watch the Japanese basic household video. They make better toilets and homes.

I enjoyed my time in Japan, but it seemed noticeable to me that they are a conquered people.

Consider: If they asked us to leave, would we actually leave Japan?

I think not.

This is a really good observation.

When the Japanese take up a hobby, they master it. It reaches an obsession. Doesn't matter if it's flower arranging, snowboarding, baseball, the electric guitar, calligraphy, photography, cooking, you name it.

It's one aspect of the culture I found both fascinating and slightly intimidating.

How close were you to the LGBTQPEDO crowd over there? Were you able to express your desires publicly and did you have to stay quiet?
