They aren’t leaving without paying for all of those somehow. If not….

Just like Sumter and Pickens in 1861.

The Confederacy offered to pay Lincoln for all former federal property before shots were fired at Sumter.

Lincoln refused.

Do you have any idea why Lincoln reinforced Sumter?

Know your history.

The same way the states in the civil war did. Basically just tell the Federal government they don't care what they say and they'll do whatever they want.

States are required to obey federal laws. States can challenge a federal law as unconstitutional, but if that law is found constitutional states are required to obey it.

If a state starts openly breaking federal law and refuses to, what would the wisest Federal response be to bring them in line?

By that defintion, are they not "rogue" now?

Let the Mexicans have it have it, build a wall on this side all the way around the bottom.

Leave Gavin, Nancy, Stiffy , Kamala, Clooney, Tom Hanks, and all the rest of them that wanted this behind said wall.

Arrest the governor and declare martial law.
Yes it's legal.

It's why CA won't go rogue.

Cut off funding. California has a massive budget deficit.

As in enforcing anti-Constitutional law, using force against Fed officers and putting their neighboring States at risk? They should be expelled by the other States

Give them the autonomy they so desire, and let The Wall take a California-sized detour.

Should we list the federal statutes?

I can think of at least two. It's not that hard.

President Trump can request Congress to enact a law similar to what President Jackson did to South Carolina during March of 1833 in response to the Nullification Crisis.

This was Pres. Jackson's response to the state government of South Carolina's refusal to adhere to federal tariffs, also known as the Tariff of Abominations.

There were two key parts of the Force Bill that could apply to california today:

-Section 5 deals with States, or portions within a state, who employ force, or any other unlawful means, to obstruct the execution of U.S. federal law, or interfere with the process of any federal court. This section authorizes the president to use whatever force necessary to suppress such insurrections, "and to cause the said laws or process to be duly executed".

-Section 6 deals with states that refuse to jail persons imprisoned under federal law. It authorizes U.S. marshals to jail such persons in "other convenient places, within the limits of said state" and to make provisions for this purpose.

Problem of today is getting Congress to act. Today Congress is much too slow and politicized, corrupt, and fearful that they will lose their next election, that they will not act.

The leadership is now openly and flagrantly breaking federal law and daring to be arrested.

then arrest them. and vigorously prosecute them. If you perp walk a few of the outlaw politicians and fine them heavily, along with asset seizure, the message will be sent with the quickness.
The reason "the leadership fragrantly breaks the law" is there are never any consequences. Impose some and this shite will cease.

Just like with any other criminal.

There's a significant portion of the state that would prefer to stay. Gonna have to split the baby. Plus, the US isn't going to let go of San Diego and that harbor. Nor China Lake, nor NASA JPL, nor 29 Palms, nor Pendelton, nor Vandenberg Space Force Base. All the companies like Raytheon, General Atomics, Aerospace Corporation, Lockheed, L3 Harris, BAE, and tons of other businesses working on defense systems and military space systems with ITAR restrictions and federally classified systems would be a problem. They account for about 25% of California's GDP.

Realistically, we're married together at the hip and unwinding that just so L.A. can have cheap illegal labor isn't going to make it so easy to just break off from the union.
