Whatever nation develops a reliable laser defense system will have the upper hand and AI will probably play the key role which is why it's been said that whoever wins AI, wins.

It is fascinating to think people believe a particular country will work after it has been destroyed by a nuclear exchange. Even more so, to believe such response would not deter their effort at being destroyed.

The problem with ICBMs is that they travel super fast with multiple payloads. From launch to detonation over a target, we are talking about 15-20 minutes.

Look up THAAD, GMD, and even PAC-3 missile systems. They are a layered defense system against incoming ICBMs

You can use a missile to take out another missile but it's very hard to hit an ICBM. Those things are insanely fast.

I think we should just have every “shithole country” have a nuke since we have interceptors….
No one wants to be in Iran for 10 years but you flailing around stating you don’t care if Iran has a nuke bc we have interceptors, is not a great argument.

Odd argument. At no point did I indicate other countries (some of which are not friendly to America) had no nukes.

The neutron bomb could disable or limit the effectiveness of nuke warhead if it was detonated close enough, within about 100 meters. We deployed, then removed it and dismantled that capability.

I don't know if this was an Annie Jacobsen interview, but I thought I heard in the last year or two we have like 50 interceptors that give us a prayer. But, it's not nearly enough for what is out there and they have like a 1 in 3 chance of working.
