Why are every other type of rockets, missels, etc able to be destroyed en route to targets, but not nukes?
Obviously the angle if my question is that i font care if Iran has a nuke, as long as we can shoot it down before it strikes
Yes, we have airborne interceptors. Basically missiles to shoot down missiles or rockets.
But here's the big problem. If Iran were to go nuclear, they'd have suicide bombers with backpack bombs left and right.
They're terrorists. Which strikes more fear? Nuclear missile that people can be alerted for and try to take shelter?
Or one big kaboom that blows up out of nowhere, without any warning?
Granted, there's the clear difference in payload.

What about nukes coming in from a Russian sub sitting in the Gulf or in the Atlantic near D.C.? Nobody has mentioned this issue.

I don’t know if they still use them but the USSR and the Russians used to use nuclear tipped anti ballistic missiles to protect Moscow.

Do not let the animation style fool you. When the Wind Blows (1986) looks like a children’s movie, but it is actually one of the most terrifying and heartbreaking war films ever made.
MOVIE SYNOPSIS: Jim and Hilda Bloggs are a sweet, elderly couple living a quiet life in rural England. When a radio broadcast announces that a nuclear war is imminent, they trust their government completely. Following the instructions in an official "Protect and Survive" pamphlet, they build a makeshift shelter in their living room and wait for the blast.
They survive the initial explosion, but they are completely unprepared for what comes next. As the days pass, Jim and Hilda try to maintain their normal routine—making tea and discussing the news—while slowly succumbing to the invisible, deadly effects of radiation poisoning.

Space Command recently admitted there are weaponised satellites in orbit. They fire stuff from Vandenburg at Kwajelein testing missile interceptors

MIRVs. Multiple independent reentry vehicles.
Only defense is duck and cover.
We practiced this before and can do it again.

How many nuclear armed missles has the US missed lately?
How many have we hit?
What a stupid boomer argument. Take your dementia pills old man.
The topic is: if we have defense capabilities against nuclear missiles.
You stated that we do but they usually miss.
Please inform us which nuclear attacks our defense systems have missed.

The United States has an operational defense system (THAAD -Terminal High Altitude Area Defense) designed to intercept and destroy short-,medium-, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase (for those of you in Rio Linda that would be in the final phase of the missile's trajectory)
Our MSM pals conveniently neglected to report that Iran has been testing an Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) with a range of up 3,500 kilometers (about 2,175). At the onset of hostilities with the USA Iran fired two of those IRBM at Europe, presumably at one of our bases in Europe. One missile failed in flight and the other one was shot down by a THAAD missile from a battery somewhere in Europe.
Presumably the MSM decided not to report the missile attack by Iran at Europe since it didn't fit their narrative that Donald Trump is a meany.
But we have a new missile threat developing - hypersonic missiles. And our pals in Iran are working to develop one. Hypersonics come at you superfast - Mach 5+ (five times the speed of sound). And right now America doesn't have an anti-ballistic missile system capable of shooting down hypersonics. Incidently if you had been paying attention to the fighting in the mid-east you would have seen Iranian medium range hypersonics crashing into Tel-Aviv.
So what does that tell us? Iran is developing (and testing) a hypersonic and a nuke to stick on it. And the only guy with the balls to stop Iran is - President Donald J.Trump.
An Islamic regime in Iran armed with a nuke and a missile to deliver it is NOT a good thing.
President Trump is right about........everything.

Kinetic defense missiles can do the job.
That's not what we're talking about is it. Why can boomers not understand message boards in 2026?
You definitely need some reading

We probably have lasers in space that can defend against nukes, but lasers aren't necessary. Kinetic missles can accomplish the task. Kinetic missles don't need to be faster than supersonic missles..... and can defend. I explained why.

but you flailing around stating you don’t care if Iran has a nuke bc we have interceptors, is not a great argument.
No, im saying i dont care if they have nukes to THREATEN OTHERS. Why are we responsible to stop Irans program, if its other's safety at risk. Why cant thos other carry out the strikes?
Again, we already monetarily support isreal, etc.
All they have to do is hit the nukes sight every few months, period

However, this was not your initial argument.
If yhere is a defense mechanism, yes it is my original point!! Read the OP.
If we have leveled the site, and there are defenses IN CASE Iran gets a nuke, WTF do we have to be there expending our resources for no gain.

I agree, and if they kill an American, hit karg island every time. They will stop eventually

Believe the government after everything they’ve said in the last 55 years dude.
I’d rather they would just say hey, they have minerals and real estate that if we took control of, would enrich the United States.
