I already have a diving compressor, but it has a gas engine.
I was thinking though, this is the kind of thing that people should know, if it's possible to do. It might put them at ease and help them not panic, if they knew that they could help themselves at home. You could set up an electric air compressor with a filter and breathing airline and regulator for a little over 300 bucks. for somebody with a very serious condition, you might have to attach the regulator to a pharyngeal tube.
I know that 1 thing helps me, not to worry and panic about a lot of things is that there are many solutions to most problems.

So it only affects old fatties? How have I not caught this already? I could be at risk!

Are people still pushing the “half a million will die” mantra on here?
My brother sure is. My brother and I are a good microcasm of this board.
You have me, who understands what this virus is and taking it seriously, but not bought in to the whole (WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE) mass hysteria and just waiting for actual data over time to start making predictions (statistics 101)
and then you have my brother, 7 years older than me, totally bought in to the fear, saying he is doing his own research and his bread and butter is "the exponetial growth formula" this thing has, stating the crazy looking point graphs with curves pointing straight up, but totally ignoring the fact that we are in the infant stage of data collecting in which every positive test makes that curve more sharp.
With given time this thing will plateau and we will know way more with what we are dealing with but right not making insane doomsday predictions on incomplete data is dumb.
Elon Musk said it best:

Certainly spreading panic and fear will help!

Large population of Chinese in the first area of Italy hit.

How many people do you know that had It? I know a lot of people and don't know anyone that had it.

I guess either calm isn't selling, because nobody is pushing it.

Ok, so based on you not knowing anyone that had it, you don't believe the CDC numbers concerning the number infected?
Holy shite, that makes absolute sense... putz...

The absurd part of this all is that even if the alarmist numbers were true and they aren't we aren't talking about a disease that's even a significant threat to the vast majority of the public
For a healthy 30 year old this s*** is no more relevant than the other thing you might catch

H1N1 hospitalized people at a much lower rate. So let's just assume Bossert is lying for some reason. Tell me about what's happening in Italy. They seem to believe that they have more patients than they can scale capacity to handle. Are they lying? If not, why are they having so much trouble?
Does 1% of Italy have Corona? They have 12.2 critical care beds per 100k and one of the oldest populations in the world on average. The US population is younger and we have close to double the per capita critical care capacity. Same goes with comparison to most of the worlds “healthcare for all” nations with the exception of Germany

This is why we need universal healthcare

So we can cut our ICU beds in half?
Hard pass.

It won't be beds that will be cut in half with universal healthcare.

The CDC doesn't believe the number the CDC is putting out. Across the country, we have only been able to test a few thousand people since this whole thing began. Other countries can do thousands a day, but as of yet, somehow, we cannot. We can't possibly know how many are infected without something closer to South Korea's testing capacity on a per capita basis.

Remember when Ebola was going to kill half of all Americans? I remember. You fear mongers are a much greater threat than the virus.

Well of the known cases 99% are mild because 8 of 800 something are "severe".

All this whole thing has told me is that the average person is a numbers idiot in can be manipulated very simply
It also tells me that most people don't have any ability to notice when key variables are being left out of an equation.

Are not testing =/= cannot test.
We aren’t testing the masses because it’s been here for months and the number would freak out the Karens.

Worth nothing that Germany and France each have comparable populations to Italy and have contained their cases much more effectively.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield's... said U.S. hospitals are already close to maxed out in their ability to care for patients with respiratory issues, reports The Washington Post's Aaron Blake. "We really don't have a lot of resilience in the capacity of our health care system," said Redfield, noting the one-two punch of coronavirus and flu season has pushed hospitals nearly to their limits.
The still employed CDC Prevention Director agrees with Bossert. Is he biased as well?
