how is ranked choice voting good? You might not even have your vote for your person counted

Yep. It’s just red and blue frick frick games.
I know I’m naive, but I still hold out hope that the fettermans of the world win out on both sides of the isle.
Be liberal, be conservative, but do what’s right first and foremost. It’s not that fricking hard.

Gerrymandering like this and effectively depriving a large percentage of the population of representation is just another step towards the end of our republic. It’s primarily the Dems fault. They’ve been doing it for a long time.

even then states like CA, NY IL are going to lose seats due to population shifts and blue flight.

Of course, but it won't be as profound as TX and FL picking up 8 seats between them. These things have a way of evening themselves out.

ranked choice voting is downvoted here
Because ranked choice is moronic. You don't get more efficiency and transparency by putting in a more convoluted system.

It wouldn't be silenced at all with ranked choice voting
It wouldn’t be silenced had Newsom not done what he and the rest of the progressives out here did. They own this. So tell me why Newsom wasn’t such a benevolent leader that he offered up ranked voting as a cure to the ills of us not bending the knee? Why silence us? He cares for us so much that we aren’t allowed a seat at the table.Yet again, the Bay Area will be lording over us when we couldn’t be much further apart in terms of jobs, energy needs, water resources, transportation, environment and so on…

But the GOP has a major roadblock. Themselves.
Pretty sure that Trump is the one that started this by calling for Texas and other red states to do this. California didn't even talk about this til after trump set it in motion.

Not really. Until this past year, this has been a completely Democrat thing.

I thought the USSC was set to end racial gerrymandering?

This isn't that case. That's Louisiana's map.

Dems are about to go on an insane gerrymandering spree while the GOP will just sit there and bitch about it

…Because of what Massachusetts, Connecticut, NY, and Illinois do.
Massachusetts and Connecticut have zero republican representation but 30-40% votes republican.

The redistricting in Texas will backfire on the GOP. The Dems will retain their seats because the GOP voters will stay home and pick boogers.

Democrats started this decades ago under the guise of "civil rights". Take Massachusetts, nine electoral districts, Trump got 36% of the vote.......and not one seat is Republican.
This extreme gerrymandering exists in many states.
