Unfortunately, that lithium is largely held in the form of black market prescription drugs.

Nah, don't destroy that area with strip mining. Stick with DLE.

DLE as in solar panels?

Lithium
Extraction

Pump brine out of the ground and extract the lithium. A few big lithium players have been building pilot plants in Arkansas on the Smackover brine field to test out their technology.

It's all about economic cost to mine. Chile is a big deal because it is at the surface. We've been mining lithium in the Appalachians for eons and why Lithium Grease was made in WV.

So Appalachians will be poor no more once they start the mining. Bless their hearts!

Member when they had all of those devastating floods and FEMA slow walked any help to the residents? I told y’all that the reason was so that the feds could push people off the land to open it up for mining. Well…whadayaknow!?

while that graphic is funny and partially true, it is amazing of What america is.
How diverse the landscape is with how small it is. There is so much shite that we have that we havent leveraged yet.

You know the whole microchip/silicon scare, about how Taiwan is the major player in those and if China gets the technology they could put a stranglehold on the entire market?

Look up Spruce Pine, NC. It is the only place in the world where you can get the highest purity quarts to make this pure silicon to manufacture all the microchips. So yes America controls everything made downstream of that quarts.

The biggest energy companies in the region couldn't get a simple pipeline built, no way they allow mining for lithium.

Duke and Dominion owned it. The irony is Virginians are now bitching about higher energy costs they think are a result of data centers. This pipeline would have help to keep those costs down.

I had watched a video about that on YouTube. I was amazed! I'd never heard or read anything about it.
This was it...
Amazing..
