US State Department is aware of the possible death due to pneumonic plague in Russia

This should be pretty interesting, don't ya think? This is Covid on steroids if not contained. They know it and are aware how anxious people are. Regardless, how can this be happening?

1. How do we know this wasn’t a jacked up version from a bioweapons lab?
2. Those antibiotics only work if taken within 24 hours. If not, basically 100% death rate.

Is there something reported about this strain being modified or resistant, or are you raising that as a possibility? Those would give us different reasons to worry.

The Russian government says this was not plague at all and she just died of pneumonia. Which, why should we trust Russia, right?
Well, the 200 people they have locked down under observation all show no signs or symptoms. So, I wouldn't blindly trust Russia here, but it's also not time to hit the panic button.
This idea of it being some sort of engineered plague is just pure doom porn speculation at this point.

It's true actually. If you contract that particular type of plague you had better get to the doctor frickin stat and get some doxycycline or your arse is a goner like for sure.
But we have no clue if that's even what this is. Let alone, if it is, if it hasn't already been contained. It is too early to be panicking over this stuff.
You have 18-24 hours from onset of symptoms. If you get antibiotics you'll be ok. If not, you're dead.

Plaque, or Black Death, as it was known in the middle ages, was bacterial and today is treatable, and certainly should not be considered a public concern, UNLESS it was due to a widespread air dispersal, such as the Anthrax accident that occurred with Biopryipat. The biggest concern, IMO, here is that it is much more likely to be of viral nature, especially given the fact that no organisms were detected. This is the case when you typically are looking for a bacterial nidus. It is much more likely that a "worker" in a plaque factory was exposed to some viral pathogen, which is why there is such concern.
