If the IRS released Joe Biden's private tax return, I would support him being able to sue for damages.
The conflict of interest there isn't clear to you? Really?

And his personal lawyer heads the department. Guys, this goes beyond partisanship. This is theft of taxpayer funds. Everyone should be pissed.

This has to be the the most open act of corruption we’ve ever seen right? Is there even a close second? At least gulf states buying Trump crypto and DJT stock has a veneer that obscures the real intent.
HHS has an annual budget of about 115 billion dollars.
President AOC is going to do a lot for the mental health of student loan borrowers by sending out checks and applying them to loan balances all in one motion.
We’ve toyed with this before, but any guardrails to buying votes straight from the US treasury are being torched.

Please take a portion of my hard earned money to pay your buddies.

They only care about fraud when it involves minorities. The theft of taxpayer funds by his administration this term is unprecedented.

So he’s made a slush fund with tax payer money? Blatant corruption in the open
Posted on 5/18/26 at 1:11 pm to Bonkers119
Should he have settled the case for $1.7b into his own pocket as the plaintiff? Or is it that they sued for unauthorized disclosure of financial information at all?
Posted on 5/18/26 at 1:19 pm to GRTiger
Well he probably would have lost the IRS lawsuit like he loses everything else. I would rather him not use tax payer money to pay off his buddies.

So is the anger about this stemming from the assumption that he wouldn't have won (or settled) the case otherwise, and the assumption that the money won't go to protect citizens from an overzealous government as has been indicated?
The conflict in appearance was settled in a fairly reasonable way in my opinion. Assuming the money isn't somehow stolen from its intended purpose.

I like that MAGA sees straight through this settlement for what it is too-a mechanism to compensate MAGA snowflakes with a victim mentality, and not a legitiamte program that would compensate injured individuals regardless of their political affiliation. The government has only been weaponized against MAGA!

I’m against the massive conflict of interest. If you don’t get that, I’m not sure what to tell you.
So the next Dem president can appoint a lackey at the DOJ, sue the government over some bullshite reason, tell the DOJ to settle, and then profit? It can be abused tremendously.
The hypothetical can go both ways: Should the IRS or other agencies be able to do anything they want, with no fear of legal liability? If the IRS releases the tax returns of a presidential candidate, and then that candidate wins, he loses his rights?

And you better choke it down with as much gusto as you’re doing this one for Daddy.
I never really figured you for being as ignorant as you are
The IRS clearly violated the law as to Trump and his sons and they would be entitled to damages
Why do you care what he decides to do with what he settles for ?
I assume there are many instances where people who have been damaged by the wrongful act of others where you have criticized how they spend their money

The next time a Democrat is President someone who owes student loans will sue the department of education for $100 trillion dollars and the department will settle by agreeing to erase all student loans debt
