Pure speculation on my part.
That's correct as I understand it. Only votes that count toward the total, and therefore count toward the threshold of victory, are votes cast for a person. Those who are there but vote "present" also do not count toward either.

If McCarthy made concessions but did not pick up a single vote, what’s he going to do now?

Oh look. Kevin smoodging right behind the 20 while Donalds is being nominated.

Hate to say it but Republicans in deep shite next election. The party has been pretty well united but this just further proves Trump has put a wedge in the party. If you wedge it come president election time the Democrats are going to easily win office.
Mccarthy is basically a turncoat so now it's Trump support vs. establishment GOP. Not necessarily a bad point but it's going to ultimately guarantee your party isn't sitting in the next President's seat.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Over the next year it's going to get ugly.

This could be said every other month on any issue.

Trump has nothing to do with this. There is no leadership in the GOP. Which is exactly why Trump will be re elected.

Trump did not divide the party, it was people such as the Schlapps and CPAC getting so much control over the party. CPAC while it is huge in fundraising has dictated what the party does not what the people want, they play lip service. It will be interesting in about 20 years to find out what promises were made to the Schlapps during this era.
The Schlapps are Soros without the guts to be public and go from the ground floor for change

I stepped away for a minute and I see there are now 2 votes for others. Who voted for who?
Posted on 1/5/23 at 1:12 pm to NCIS_76
This is as empty I have seen the chamber during all of the voting. People getting impatient?

IDK man I'm reading the tea leaves here. Based on what's been happening in recent months it seems it's all going to shite for the party due to lack of leadership. It will never be Trump because establishment GOP isn't going to let it happen again. They're already trying to jostle him out of position and his support just looking for political gains. I wouldn't doubt if someone tries to cut his throat politically.

Lauren Boebert and Josh Brecheen both voted for Republican Study Committee Chair, Kevin Hern
Posted on 1/5/23 at 1:14 pm to EKG
This is really a shite show lol the GOP has the power and cant do anything with it

After Andy Biggs votes for Donalds, Dan Bishop skips his turn and Lauren Boebert votes for Kevin Hern
Josh Brecheen votes for Hern too. Hern is from #OK01 and has been voting for McCarthy
