I don't disagree with any of that, I'm just not sure what reform looks like. Them being damn near untouchable isn't working.

Before the advent of video everywhere, it wasn't obvious.

But man, when you see them on camera now just absolutely defiant while also just embarrassingly ignorant of the law, you see quickly what QI has done.

Speaking of which, that's really another big problem. It's just startling to see how common it is for cops to NOT know the law. BASIC law shite. Stuff that anyone who commonly interacts with the public should know.

I don't expect them to be friggin Harvard lawyers, but, honestly, most of them don't know basic shite and you start to get the impression that they think THEY are the "law".

How many should be on shift? How many hours per week? How much time off? Why are you taking one example and extrapolating it to all, because you just know it to be so?

0 on shift
0 hours per week

The department shouldn't exist. We should NOT have police departments that can barely afford to pay Home Depot wages. PERIOD.

You know the difference between a cop in the US and one in China or NK?

ANSWER: Nothing. There's not a single thing you've seen their cops do that ours would not do if ordered. You see Chinese cops welding doors shut to enforce Curfew? And you think that if the Police Chief in NYC ordered the same thing, it wouldn't happen?

It would. Oh, you'd have some who griped. Maybe some who quit rather than do it. But those doors would get welded.

Zero on shift and zero hours per week. Sounds like a great place to live. Please feel free to move there. I’ll stick to my Mayberry and run the risk of getting abused by a bad apple police officer. Oh wait…..I don’t break the law. I just lowered my chance of getting the Floyd treatment dramatically and lowered the chance of a gang banger to pop a cap in my arse at the same time.

While I'd love to specify, doing so would be pretty risky to my anonymity. Sincerely.

I can tell you that among other things, one of their favorites was to run the "pull over" scam.

They'd just have fake pull overs set up all fricking day while other cops watched for anyone who didn't change lanes or slow down "enough"(whatever that means). They did this because it was an automatic $500 fine and was not contestable.

And make no mistake, they set it up to make pulling over hard. There was a 3rd car involved that would drive in the lane needing to be changed to.

It was pure gang behavior and they got away with it for YEARS before someone finally put a stop to it.

It would be.

There are literally hundreds of ways to police a town completely surrounded by other municipalities.

It wasn't a fricking island.

It has made me blink. It has opened my eyes to see democrat/liberal/socialist party completely destroy metro areas and now they are working to change the smaller less populated areas also. I’ll take a hard pass on that.

The cops in smaller towns enforced that stupid shite with a vengeance also.

Just sayin

It’s pretty simple to me. Don’t break the law. If you do don’t resist arrest. 99% of the problems go away.

You sound like a whiny liberal that wants the government to protect him. We have the 2nd amendment in this country and I encourage everyone to take care of themselves.

I mean, go down to academy and be put on a delay for a month.

Other states have waiting periods, so I guess get killed while you wait to purchase a fire arm.

The cops on the street are the ones responsible for their behavior and actions.

I agree the system is problematic. But if they would start policing the police and holding them accountable when they violate rights of the citizens these problems would decrease.

There is a police problem in this country. They can get away with murder, literally in many cases but dont let them tweet the wrong thing.

Arrest cops when they violate rights and strip them of their qualified immunity or they will continue to act as though there is no consequences for their actions, because there is no consequences for their actions.

Those are unconstitutional. In a perfectly Constitutional society there would be no tyrant police departments and all of our Constitutional rights would be intact.

The real problem is that the supposed "good" ones are COSNTANTLY caught on camera doing not a goddamned thing about it.

Are they good though if they do nothing?

The system is built in such a way that it corrupts the good ones.

But the world and society aren’t perfect. You take away the cops & America will turn into Haiti overnight.

I agree but a lot of people don’t know to just order one online and get it shipped to a small ffl. They can release it to you after 3 business days. But I guess if you try to purchase in a Friday you might not be able to actually go home with it until the next week. So don’t get killed over the weekend.

Cops literally laugh in the face of people who threaten them with action even when they are grossly violating the law.

21 years around LE and can count on one hand how many officers I’ve seen violate law / policy and all were reported and fired / arrested

quote:

The entire, "take it up with a judge" attitude seen on HUNDREDS of videos now comes from that.
LEO don’t render judgments. It really is a matter that needs to be taken to the Judge. While there are areas where they lack in training, most are acting in good faith trying to do their job. Even if it’s done poorly.

quote:

And even if you go to court and win, the cop who fricked with you is laughing because it caused you the inconvenience of having to go to court to fight their stupidity. And the cop got paid to be in court!

Im not sure where this idea comes from but it’s not what I’ve witnessed. Maintaining credibility with the court is very important. No LEO wants to be the one creating bad case law. Most LEO take pride in their work, you think they don’t care if they look stupid on the stand? LEOs take going to court very serious and the only way they get paid is if they have to go on their day off. A LEO that rather sit in court all day for $50 instead of enjoying a day off or being able to work extra duty is a dumbass and wouldn’t last 6 months on the job anyway
