What type of cheese do you believe Subway is using on the OP sandwiches?

As someone who was raised on the Kraft cheese… I can verify subway does not use that cheese.

Or that cheese got a hell of a lot better since then.

I used a coupon to get a foot long for $6.99 today. Tmo, I’ll use another to get 2 foot longs for $12.99. These show up in the trash mail I get and I finally used one. Nice!

Cooking at home is the only way.

This. The difference is labor costs. The actual food at fast food places is not that much higher. It's the wages of unskilled labor that's way up. Do your own labor in the kitchen. It's very easy for the beginner with all the internet sites on how to cook anything at home.
BUT, you also have to be smart shopper. Take time to read the labels.

Which is why more and more of us are making things at home. And you know what ingredients you put in your food (see Boar's Head meats huge recall and deaths attributed to their processed meats), who makes your food, and there is no markup. Except perhaps for a kiss for the cook!

Well, this is why I moved to the country over 12 years ago. Built a huge chicken pin, started raising rabbits, trapping hogs, and hunting deer. I buy zero meat products from grocery stores. My wife and I go eat at a restaurant once a year for our anniversary. I am about to add onto the chicken coop this weekend and we will have 30-31 laying hens. Also, within the next year I will be getting quotes for solar panels to fully run my house. Goal is to be 100% self sufficient within the nest 12-18 months. Once I'm done with that then the next project will be a still so I can start making moonshine.

The older I get, the more I want to do this.

And believe it or not, the tomatoes are shrinking. The tomatoes subway is delivering are the size of plumbs.

There were four little tiny plumb sized slices on each footlong sandwich.

I went nuts.

But Wendy's is just as bad. $16 bucks for a double with cheese and fries combo.

It has gotten insane. We go to lunch after church every Sunday. Last Sunday a cheeseburger, fries and coke for 4 people was $77.

Well, that’s about 4 boxes of Canes.

Small tenders and all.
