As a tax accountant, there is nothing in those returns that will show any kind of connection to illegal entities. The only fire power this will provide is that Trump probably has a huge NOL and probably paid very little tax due to passive activity losses and potentially captial losses offsetting capital gains. So while he probably had lucrative deals, he also probably had many real estate losses. But losses aren’t indicative of tax shelters. There are large depreciation deductions in year 1 of deals (legal and within the code) and other things that can offset taxable income in an investment. He probably paid a shite ton of state taxes which would be a large deduction on Sch A because these returns were likely the pre2018 tax law changes that limited state taxes to 10K.

They’ll attack things like that just to show that this filthy millionaire doesn’t pay his fair share of taxes, though he most likely does. You can’t really tell much more than that from a tax return. They are not at all representative of a persons over wealth and don’t tell the whole story on where income comes from. They would have to dig all the way down into his investment entities to get any illegal activity and good luck to them on that.

You guys seem to be forgetting the point: Trump is under criminal investigation. This isn't about "releasing his tax returns to the public" or whatever these posters in this thread are saying. It's about whether a sitting President's financial documents can be subpoenaed as evidence in a criminal investigation.

It’s the constitutionally correct decision. It’s funny as frick seeing you morons act like pussy arse liberals every time you don’t get your way. Y’all are hypocritical as shite.

It was a 7-2 decision so obviously y’all are smarter than 7 Supreme Court justices. fricking morons.

You are entirely correct.

90% of the posters in this thread do not even know what the legal issues in these cases ARE ... much less understand them.

No, he's not.

He's under a politicized inquisition by far left whackjob Democrat operatives. These FILTHY F*CKING DIMS are on a fishing expedition to find political dirt on their opponent. And, that should not stand.

Remember, these are the same people who refuse to make the Clinton Crime Family Foundation reveal its foreign donors EVEN THOUGH IT IS REQUIRED BY F*CKING LAW.

The GOOD NEWS is that both of these opinions just punt the final resolution 3-4 years down the road. By that time, Trump will be 2-3 years into his second term and no one will care.

I mean... he is. This isn't an opinion on a message board, lol. I'm not saying whether that investigation is justified, but he's definitely formally under investigation. You can google this if you want. But something tells me you aren't interested in the details of the case.

I'm not sure that this is as big of a deal as many think. A D.A. in an official investigation can subpoena the evidence. The problem though is whether Vance after the issue is officially remanded is not a defacto research arm for the DNC/Biden

The bigger threat is the personal returns requested by Neal at Ways and Means and the law that says the chairman can subpoena ANY taxpayers returns for ostensibly ANY reason whether or not there is pending legislation....there are serious privacy concerns.

The thought on that is this is another back door on Russia and trying to link a purported loan by Deutshe Bank as a payoff....just a way to forward information to Schiff.

This SCOTUS decision is focused on the Trump Organization. If I were Trump I would start moving quickly to quash certain aspects of the upcoming subpoenas. This is not over by a long shot.

^^
I bet 99% of them haven’t even read the opinion. I doubt they’ve ever even read a SCOTUS opinion.
