Trump's play is to get people thinking that he's the boss and DeSantis is the beta while DeSantis is not in the race and not saying a thing back to any of Trump's provocations (DeSanctimonious, "RINO Globalist", etc.) Trump knows he either won't respond or he'll get the better of him in a shite-flinging contest.

Trump was definitely a factor and remains a factor. Nobody wants to hit Trump back because they're worried of his skills in defining opponents. His opponents all want him to drop out before they have to go at it with him and then they can say nice things about him and try to unify the party.
